Feng Shui Fridays
September 14, 2012

Greetings!

Every time I think about discontinuing Feng Shui Fridays I get an affirming email from a reader that makes my heart sing. And then I am re-inspired to write another Friday entry to support you in your journey to clear clutter and add balance and harmony to your life by creating good feng shui.

Thank you, Dianne, for letting me know "how much effect your [my] newsletters have." And that the August 24 letter about looking at things differently was "meaningful and useful" to you and your women's retreat participants.

Many thanks to all the readers who take time from their busy lives to share their results.

Feng Shui Tip of the Week
simplify bookcaseAs we head into the fall season, clearing out clutter and letting go supports the metal element by making room for inward introspection and focus. That means making some decisions to move you into the future and out of the past.  Avoiding decisions causes Mrs. Chi to feel stuck.  Decide to donate, recycle, toss, or sell and invite Mrs. Chi to meander through your space and toward possibilities.

To make decision-making a little easier, these are some favorite resources to help you clear the clutter and create good feng shui.

1. Shredding. It is preferable to shred some papers (tax, financials, personal) rather than tossing in a general recycle dumpster. Check out the prices and availability to find the one that works best for you.

2. Let it go.  A business after my own heart is Gone for Good. They are an eco-friendly hauling company and retail store to reduce, resell and recycle all that stuff you no longer love, use, or need. Call 303.736.2387 for price and pick up information or visit their store at 7600 S. Grant Street, A2, Littleton 80122. Make the decision to let it go and create open space for what you want most--travel, time, energy, fun, friendships!

3. But it cost so much money. One of the biggest issues I find with letting go is the idea that everything we own is so valuable, worth so much, or cost so much. The decision-making process to donate or give away becomes complicated by our fear of wasted money or loss of a big pay day. Too often, the time and energy we spend trying to sell or get our "money's worth" outweighs the actual value. But sometimes not. So here is my recommendation for an appraiser who can tell you what your items are worth: American Society of Appraisers 1.800.ASAVALU (272.8258).

This week make some decisions to let go of items that have been boxed, broken or forgotten far too long, and create new energy in your home or office--the feng shui way.

Until next week

Wishing you Simplified Interiors
