Feng Shui Fridays
September 7, 2012

Greetings!

This Feng Shui Friday finds me practicing the principle of balance.  Last night my book launch party was a great success with nearly 50 people in attendance.  Thanks to all who came out to celebrate with me, all those who were there in spirit, to those who bought books, and all the warm wishes shared at my accomplishment.  I am most grateful!

After all the planning and partying,  I am stepping back for a few days to regroup, renew, and review.  Creating balance and harmony in our lives is essential to creating good feng shui.  Here's what I'm doing to restore balance and clear the clutter the feng  shui way.

Feng Shui Tip of the Week

 1.  Lists.  I am a proverbial list maker.  As I start each day I make a list of priorities that must be accomplished that day.  In his book Getting Things Done, David Allen encourages 'getting it all out of your head' by writing down everything you need to do.  He suggests that once it's out of your head and on paper your mind will let it go as well as the stress it creates.  Making lists is my way of clearing the clutter -- mentally.  Today I looked at the launch party lists, checked to see if anything was left undone, and tossed them in the recycle bin.  Yesterday's list consisted of writing thank you notes, writing Feng Shui Friday, making a bank deposit, and responding to emails. Done and done!

2.  The Hawk.  A couple weeks ago we found a juvenile hawk that appeared to be injured, as he was staying on the ground and seemed unable to fly over the fence or into the giant cottonwood in our backyard.  Animal control came for him (her) and delivered to a bird of prey rescue.  Just a few hours ago my husband came running up to my desk and said, 'you've got to see the hawks sitting in our tree.'  They were beautiful!  Two hawks sitting on a small broken branch in the ash tree -- so picturesque. Perhaps they are siblings of the injured hawk. I looked up hawk in my Animal Speak book by Ted Andrews.  Three hawks in less than two weeks are not to be ignored.  The message for me: "This powerful bird can awaken visionary power and lead you to your life purpose. It is the messenger bird, and whenever it shows up, pay attention.  There is a message coming."

3.  Quiet time.  After all the activity of the past few weeks, it is time to meditate and be quiet and watch for messages.  If you have been busy at work, getting the kids back to school, clearing clutter in your home or office, finishing projects, cleaning off your desk, or crossing items off your to do list, remember to stop and regroup.  Bask in your accomplishments, listen for messages, consider the possibilities and opportunities, give yourself time to dream.  Start a new list.

Until next week
