I have lived in a Three House for 34 years. If you asked me then if I would still be in this house all these years later, I would have said "no way!" I wanted a traditional two-story and yet settled in this Three House which, interestingly, is also a tri-level. My daughter had just turned three and my son only six months. It was a fixer-upper, eye-sore the neighbors were just about ready to purchase and flip. While this was not the house of my dreams, its energy was perfect for our family (the elementary school at the end of the block and a huge park behind us), our budget, and our lifestyle. As our lives have changed and our children grown, we are considering a different home for who we are and where we're going that will have a different energy. For 34 years we had a Home that worked for us. You can too.
1. There are no coincidences. "Wherever you go, there you are." You live in the house with the energy you need at this time. You have chosen this time to be in this home for a few or many years. When the time is right and you have finished this phase of your journey, you'll know when to move on to another location with a new number that supports the next phase of your journey. When I moved into this Three House 34 years ago I knew nothing about house energy and yet here we are in a house that suits us. Embrace your locale and spend time considering how the energy of this House suits you
2. Not the right number. If you live in a house you don't think aligns with your personal energy at this time, step back and look at it differently. What are the qualities and challenges of this house that you may need to work towards, balance, or adopt? If you live in a One (individuality, independence, progress, new beginnings) and you think you need a Five (adventure, travel), perhaps this house is telling you to avoid being reclusive and introspective and use its "new beginnings" and "progress" qualities to slowly move toward adventure and activity. Or "begin" to adopt the practice of introspection and quiet time to better understand who you are.
3. Making your house a Home. No matter what the number of your house, you have control of making it your Home. Add colors, décor, artwork, personal items, and furniture that speaks to you. When you open the door and enter, let there be no misunderstanding that you live here. You want your friends and family to say "this is so YOU!" My entry is painted royal purple. Anyone who knows me well, knows purple is my favorite color. You can always align yourself with your Home, no matter where you are, to create an environment that supports balance and harmony with space to play, work, and grow.
Until next week,
Wishing you Simplified Interiors
