Greetings!
Hey! It's Feng Shui Friday. Throughout January let's de-clutter and set intentions for the New Year. Since practicing Feng Shui, I now observe two New Years: January 1 and the Lunar (Chinese) New Year (January 23 this year; this date changes each year based on the moon). This gives us all additional time to reflect, dream and plan.
In this week's Feng Shui Friday:
- Read how Joanne is starting her New Year (an email from a Feng Shui Friday Fan -- yours are welcome, too)
- Align your dreams and intentions with your home and office environment
- Come paint with us! Visualize your intentions by painting your very own custom piece of art work to keep you focused in 2012 (see detailed information below).
Thank you, again, for making Feng Shui Friday a part of your week by trying these simple, inexpensive ways to incorporate feng shui principles into your life, your home, and your office. |

1. Joanne's Story. "I'm a very organized person and things have gotten away from me over the past few years. I always go out of an old year and into a new one with good intentions. This one was no different. I like to have a clean house in the new year to honor my grandmother's tradition. And, the busyness of that time makes it difficult. So, I granted myself an extension to the Lunar New Year and have been busy getting ready. This gives me more time to sort out drawers or a closet.
I also started The Happiness Project which gives an area of focus for each month. January is de-cluttering. Her book helped me think outside of the box and also gave me some good ideas. I'm on my way to organization and am getting things done. I feel on track for the first time in years. I've also picked a word for this year and am asking my friends to do the same. Mine is FUN. Thanks for your weekly message. I enjoy your reminders, insights and perspective. Yes, it is a Happy New Year."
2. Align your dreams with your space. Create a "2012 Possibilies, Dreams, Intentions" list. What are your intentions for this year? Travel? Health? Business growth? Then, like Joanne, choose a word for this year and align your intentions with changes to your home and office by placing symbols of that word in your spaces for daily visual reminders. FUN symbols might be balloons (parties), a jar of sand or seashells (going to the beach), or a map of hiking/biking trails. One of my words is MUSIC. I've loaded my iPod with all my lifetime favorites and purchased a unique bracelet made of piano wire to focus my intention on taking piano lessons this year. Remember to de-clutter anything that does not align with your intentions and dreams for this year (worn out shoes, depressing music/movies, fat snacks and cookbooks, too many 'to do' things on your lists, outdated files and contacts).
Note: Book links are to Amazon. com because it is the easiest place I've found for information on all kinds of books. If you know a link to another book source, I'm happy to use it.
I'm always happy to hear how your Feng Shui fixes are working for you and all the results you are experiencing.
Until next Friday
Wishing you Simplified Interiors
