Feng Shui Fridays
April 29, 2011
Greetings!

Thanks for being a Feng Shui Fridays reader and for your continued positive feedback.  My goal is to educate and offer easy, inexpensive, fun ways to incorporate the principles of Feng Shui into your life.  Last week I offered tips on intention.  This week it's about metaphor:  the words we use set strong intention for what we want to happen.  Take a look at how it works and see how you can use Feng Shui as metaphor.

Feng Shui Tips
 thinking

1.  Feng Shui as Metaphor.  A metaphor is an application of a name or description to something to which it is not literally applicable.  Often our state of being is described in words by what's going on in our homes, offices and lives.  Example: If your goals feel 'out of reach', look to see what is 'out of reach' in your home or office.  Are the shelves 'out of reach'?  Are things 'out of reach' because they're hidden/stored in the back of a cabinet or behind other stuff?  Do you feel like you never have enough 'time' or are never 'on time'?  Pay attention to the number of clocks and timepieces you have. Are they all working?  Are they set at the same time or different times?  Notice the words you use and find the metaphors in your life.

2.  Fixes for Metaphors.  Plumbing that leaks or drips can cause a 'flood' of just about anything.  Are you experiencing a 'flood' of emotions?  A 'flood' of bills?  Fix the plumbing.  Do you have doors or windows, drawers or cabinets that 'stick'?  What 'sticky' situations are you facing?  Fix the sticks.  Having problems seeing things 'clearly'?  Wash the windows and mirrors.  Clean your eyeglasses or get a new prescription.  Hang a crystal over the window by your desk to get a 'crystal clear' perspectiveThings 'not working' in your life?  Look at how many things are 'not working' in your home.  Repair or replace everything that is not working properly.

3.  Feng Shui Your Metapor.  Barry Gordon, physicist and Feng Shui practitioner, says "Feng Shui is the intelligent use of intention through environmental metaphor."  Now is your chance to find one metaphor in your environment -- home, office, car -- and Feng Shui it.  Create alignment, balance and harmony by changing the external with how you are describing it.  'Make room' for more clients by 'making room' in your file cabinets (email files).  'Clear up the situation' by 'clearing off' the surfaces.  'Lift your energy' by 'lifting your load' of responsibilities, obligations, and shoulds.

I set out this year to 'do things differently'.  As you know, I took a clean cooking class from my sister.  I've also started a new clean eating program and have lost weight.  I'm clearing clutter -- slowly but surely -- from my bookshelves (my biggest attachment is books), closets, and cupboards.  And, I clutter cleared my car and had it detailed and it looks brand new!  I love getting in it all clean.  As I move through the year, I"m also clearing clutter when I travel.  Having my own business allows me the...read more
