Good Friday @Monastery ~ April 2 |
In
the Mount Hamilton hills with a heavenly view of the valley sits the
Carmelite Monastery. Each year on Good Friday pilgrims hike the hill to
reflect on the Stations of the Cross along the way. Please arrive 30
minutes early to park and meet at the gates to begin your journey.
At
3pm following the Stations of the Cross, Good Friday worship services
will take place in the Chapel. The singing or preaching of
the Passion of St. John's gospel will take place along with the
Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion service. More about the Carmelites >

East Side Heroes w/Fr. Greg Boyle ~ April 17

East Side Heroes was founded in 2003 by Enrique S. Flores who's desire
was to duplicate and "pay forward" the type of assistance he received
throughout his life from the Jesuit Community which included: Academic
Scholarships, Mentorship and Leadership Development.
With the support of the community, East Side Heroes, a volunteer driven non-profit has been able to
raise over $150,000 dollars to offer scholarships to disadvantaged students to enroll in Catholic high schools. Come celebrate and support the work of this
great organization and hear the dynamic and inspiring words of Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J. of Homeboy Industries.

Recall the Grimm Brothers moral tale of promises made and promises broken. When a poor miller tries to impress the greedy king by boasting untruthfully that his beautiful daughter can spin straw into gold, the king locks the girl in a room with a spinning wheel and some straw. A strange little man appears and entices the young maiden to promise him her first born child if he assists her. Later, he returns to claim the baby in fulfillment of their bargain, but is undone by his own ego. K-5 Children's Production.
