that the Earth was the center of the universe, the Vatican has called
in experts to study the possibility of extraterrestrial alien life and
its implication for the Catholic Church.
"The questions of life's origins and of whether life exists
elsewhere in the universe are very suitable and deserve serious
consideration," said the Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, an astronomer and

Poverty Under the Stars ~ November 12

SJSU students and faculty
will hold the 4th Annual "Poverty Under the Stars" Campus Sleep Out
at San Jose State, and we would like to invite your organization to
participate. This year's "Poverty Under the Stars" event, which is sponsored by
the Gulf Coast Civic Works Project and the Cesar Chavez Community Action
Center, is focused on the Great Recession.
There are three ways your organization can participate:
1) Decorate a tent that demonstrates how the Great
Recession is impacting your community;
2) Come to the 7-9 pm community-wide event at the
Smith & Carlos Statue Garden and hear speakers (including
someone from your organization) discuss how the Great Recession is
affecting your community, and learn now Civic Works can create jobs and
rebuild America.
3) Sleep out in solidarity with the people who are
being effected by the Great Recession.

The Partners in Mission Group from St. Mary's Parish in Los Gatos is
sponsoring its annual Soup Supper for the Working Boy's Center in
Ecuador on Sunday November 15th at 7 PM. The mission of the Working
Boy's Center is to provide care through meals, health services, and
most of all, education and vocational training to help families break
the cycle of poverty through self-sufficiency. Sr. Cindy Sullivan, BVM,
a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the
director of the Working Boy's Center. She will speak at the supper and
will share photos of the Center and its current work.
