The quotes are from seven teachers of non-duality.  The passages on the right are updated daily and the one on the left by Kip changes weekly.   Jordan makes comments in the bottom panel and you are invited to join in on The Daily Now blog.

Realizing Peace

"The mind is always scheming.
Looking for ways to make you happy;
ways to make you feel good.

How you can avoid feeling
the things you don't want to feel
and how you can feel more
what you would like to feel.

There is nothing wrong with this,
it is the nature of the mind.

But it is also how stress is created.

Because there is what is here
in this moment
and there is how you would like
'here' to be.

If you really look
this manipulation
is happening most of the time.

Even when you sit to meditate
the mind is scheming.

The last thing the mind wants to do
is to let go of its control
and experience this moment.

But what happens
if you let go of all the scheming
and simply feel what is here.

Not just in meditation
but in daily life.

If you find yourself
in a situation
where you are confronted
with something you do not wish to feel.

Whether there is a feeling
of loneliness, jealousy,
fear, awkwardness,
whatever feeling is there
instead of letting the survival instinct
kick in and control it, mask it,
distract yourself from it,
what if you simply allowed yourself
to feel that feeling.

If you allowed yourself
to be completely vulnerable
to that feeling.

I am not talking about
analyzing it or dramatizing it
but simply to feel the sensation of that feeling.

To just allow it.

If you allow yourself
to feel what you have been
avoiding feeling
suddenly you are immersed
in this moment
in a way you might never
have been before.

You are so immersed
in this moment,
so open to what is here,
that there is nothing to hold on to,
nothing to know.

And although
it may leave you feeling
completely vulnerable to what is here,
it also leaves you completely
in peace.

If you are completely
surrendered to your experience
of this moment
then you are at one with this moment.

You begin to recognize
the underlying experience of
deep fathomless peace
that is here all the time.

And in this peace you can learn
through practice to remain in it;
to remain aligned with it.

All of the things that you
used to avoid
now become opportunities
to move deeper into peace.

It is the practice
of moving beyond the mind,
beyond knowing
into your natural state.

Blessings,

Kip"

Chapter 4

The Now

The division of life into past, present and future is mind made, and, ultimately, illusory.

The past and future are thought forms, mental abstractions. The past can only be remembered Now. What you remember is an event that took place in the Now and you remember it Now. The future, when it comes, is the Now. So the only thing that is real, the only thing that ever is, is the Now.

An invitation to unlearn

More than a teaching, non-duality is an invitation to recognize a timeless space. Listening to a teacher or reading a book is insufficient. Non-duality or presence is not about learning new information or repeating memorized pointers. It is a seeing that what you are cannot be found in information and pointers. What you are is the space in which that information and those pointers appear and disappear.

Each pointer is simply an invitation to see that this timeless space is all there is, that the self is a false, thought-based, time-bound construct that comes and goes in that space. Non-duality pointers invite a looking inward to see what is beyond or prior thought. What is here whether there is thinking or no thinking? No matter how grand or insightful a thought is, it cannot tell you who you really are or what is here. Your true identity can never be expressed directly because you are not a thought.

Realization does not come about by making non-duality into a subject that you know a lot about or by repeatedly reminding yourself of what you have been told by teachers. It is an unlearning, an unknowing that happens naturally when awareness no longer contracts around information. This is not to say that information is denied or de-valued, only that there is no longer identification with it.

THE EMOTIONAL BODY RADIANCE STATEMENT

Let us unravel this Emotional Body Radiance Statement so that we can mentally load it with intent so our repetition practice activates greater momentum for us:

  • WE: Repeating this statement from the perspective of "WE" includes our entire C.A.S.T. in the practice, thereby making ourselves vulnerable to oneness mentality.

  • WE LOVE LIVING: By LIVING we refer to all the physical, mental, and emotional experiences of this world.

  • WE LOVE EVERY MOMENT: By MOMENT we invite the resonance of present moment awareness into all our time-based experiences, appreciating each one as being equally valuable.

  • WE LOVE EVERYTHING: By EVERYTHING we acknowledge our appreciation for every inanimate object in our life experience, from our work tools, to the mountains, to the clothes we wear.

  • WE LOVE EVERYBODY: By EVERYBODY we acknowledge our appreciation for every life form on the planet, from human beings, to insects, to elephants, to plants, to starfish.

  • WE LOVE EVERYONE: By EVERYONE we acknowledge our appreciation for every life form on the planet that is a personality to us, including all the human beings and the pets coloring our life experiences. This includes anyone we have not met yet, that we may only know through T.V., etc.

  • WE LOVE OUR COMMUNITY: By COMMUNITY we refer to the human beings in our daily life experience we encounter, that are not our immediate family, from the cashier, to the post office clerk, to the car mechanic, to our work colleagues.

  • WE LOVE OUR FAMILY: By FAMILY we refer to the members of our birth family, whether we have met them or not.

  • WE LOVE OURSELVES: By OURSELVES we refer to the entire C.A.S.T. (Compassionate Attention Support Team) making up the attributes of the expression of our presence in the world, from our Inner Presence, to our child self, to our egoic identity, to our emotional body, etc.

  • WE LOVE LIFE: By LIFE we refer to our authentic identity; the still, silent, and invisible inner current flowing through us, expressing itself outwardly as this world and our experience of it. We may also call this God.

  • WE LOVE: By WE LOVE we refer to the state of unconditional giving enabling all within our radiance to evolve to their fullest potential. Accordingly, love and evolve become the same word. This is why the word evolve contains the word love. Therefore, when we say WE LOVE, we are saying, WE EVOLVE.

  • LOVE: Evolve. The only commandment.

Time Never Happens

(Continuation...)

Consciousness conceives of itself as a subtle object towards which it can turn. It does not yet know that it is already the attention that it is trying to give itself.

It does not yet see clearly that attention divested of an object is already Consciousness, Presence, itself. So it plays a trick on itself. It searches for itself.

Consciousness never finds itself in this way because it is, without knowing it, already itself.

However, in attempting the impossible task of using mind to look towards that which is not an object, Consciousness is somehow undermining its habit of looking 'outside' and 'elsewhere.'

 Man is not the Doer

(Continuation...)

Q: Does my real being need my love?

M: Your real being is love itself and your many loves are its reflections according to the situation at the moment.

From Above...

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above.)

From Nisargadatta (1/4/12):  "Use every incident of the day to remind you that without you as the witness there would be neither animal nor God."
++++++

From Michael Brown (1/2/12):  "Our overall energy levels are a direct reflection of the condition of our emotional body."

Jordan:  This is interesting and good to know.
