Transcending the Mind

"The mind
is a non-stop chatterbox.

Always talking talking talking.
Commenting, judging, defining,
describing, knowing.

It is very important
to become aware of
the constant noise of the mind.

If you are involved with it,
then you cannot be aware of it.

If you are the one that knows,
that defines, that describes, that judges,
then you cannot be aware of it.

There has to be the willingness
to either step out
of that identification with thinking
so that you can witness it

or to direct the thought
process through a technique
like repeating a mantra,
self inquiry,
watching the breath,
anything that focuses your attention
so that it is not
a slave to the thinking process.

And once there is a build-up
of focused attention
or ability to witness thinking,
then silence begins to make itself known.

Perhaps it makes itself known
through Shakti, the subtle energy
that is felt as bliss
or perhaps it makes itself known
through the experience
of impersonal being
or perhaps in another way.

But if you give your attention to it
in meditation,
if you allow it,
at some point,
the silence begins to take over.

The silence begins
to consume all of the noise.
It consumes all of the limited ideas
of who you are and what you know,
until there is nothing left
for you to hold on to.

And in that you learn to surrender
into the silence
so that there is only silence,
the nature of which
is unconditional peace.

Blessings,

Kip"

Chapter 3

The Egoic Self

Do you carry feelings of guilt about something you did-or failed to do-in the past? This much is certain: you acted according to your level of consciousness or rather unconsciousness at that time. If you had been more aware, more conscious, you would have acted differently.

Guilt is another attempt by the ego to create an identity, a sense of self. To the ego, it doesn't matter whether that self is positive or negative. What you did or failed to do was a manifestation of unconsciousness-human unconsciousness. The ego, however, personalizes it and says, "I did that," and so you carry a mental image of yourself as "bad."

Throughout history humans have inflicted countless violent, cruel, and hurtful acts on each other, and continue to do so. Are they all to be condemned; are they all guilty? Or are those acts simply expressions of unconsciousness, an evolutionary stage that we are now growing out of?

Jesus' words, "Forgive them for they know not what they do," also apply to yourself.

Contraction

The sense of being a separate self is maintained through narrow focusing or contracting around appearances that arise and fall in awareness. Awareness itself is naturally wide open and spacious. Take a moment to sit back and see that the entire experience of now is happening in that open space. Exterior to the body and mind, there are objects such as a desk, a chair, a light, the floor, walls, perhaps heat or cold in the room. Interior to the body and mind, there are also objects including thoughts, feelings, and sensations. All of that is occurring in the wide open space of awareness.

When awareness contracts around an interior or exterior object, the sense of spacious awareness appears lost. The sense of separation between objects appears pronounced, including the sense that there is a self inside the body and mind separate from everything exterior to the body and mind.

In simply noticing this tendency of awareness to contract around objects that appear both ìinsideî and ìoutsideî the body and mind, spacious awareness begins to realize itself naturally. The tendency to contract around thought and emotion relaxes. You see that who you are cannot be found in the temporary objects appearing and disappearing including the thoughts and emotions. You are the spacious awareness that contains the entire experience happening in the space of now, including the interior and exterior objects that come and go.

Spinning

(Continuation...)

Also, because these alien presences are parasitic, their resonance is of a low frequency. When we spin, the surge within our energy system automatically weeds them out of hiding. These presences often react to this procedure by temporarily leaping out of our energy field, and returning when things calm down a bit. This is why consistency is essential once we commence wielding these procedures.

 Man is not the Doer

(Continuation...)

Q: If I am light only, how did I come to forget it?

M: You have not forgotten. It is in the picture on the screen that you forget and then remember. You never cease to be a man because you dream to be a tiger. Similarly you are pure light appearing as a picture on the screen and also becoming one with it.

From Above...

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above.)

From Nisargadatta (1/4/12):  "Use every incident of the day to remind you that without you as the witness there would be neither animal nor God."

From Michael Brown (1/2/12):  "Our overall energy levels are a direct reflection of the condition of our emotional body."

Jordan:  This is interesting and good to know.
