The Power of Observation (July 30, 2009)
Question: What is the practical purpose of being an observer in meditation?
Answer From Kip: "All stress arises because you are identified with your thoughts and emotions. But it is possible to experience yourself beyond the thoughts and emotions. To witness the thoughts arising and disappearing without any involvement. Thoughts and emotions still arise, but you no longer are defined by them, you are watching them. From this perspective, you exist as awareness, not the mind. And the nature of awareness is unconditional love, peace and bliss. You experience bliss, not for any reason, but simply because that is your natural experience when you rest as awareness. So practicing observing the thoughts begins to expand your awareness from being identified with the thoughts to being awareness itself. For you cannot observe a thought and be identified with it at the same time. Simply by observation, the thoughts lose all their power over you and all stress vanishes. You are free from the heavy confines of the mind and all it's conflicts to rest as pure, weightless awareness. Blessings, Kip" Please Note: My main teaching is for you to immerse yourself in Kundalini Shakti - the energy one naturally radiates in the highest states of enlightenment. I have found a way to turn Kundalini Shakti into sound So simply by listening to meditation music you effortlessly awaken to your natural state of unconditional peace, bliss and freedom.

Chapter 3
The Egoic Self
Complaining and reactivity are favorite mind patterns through which the ego strengthens itself. For many people, a large part of their mental-emotional activity consists of complaining and reacting against this or that. By doing this, you make others or a situation "wrong" and yourself "right." Through being "right," you feel superior, and through feeling superior, you strengthen your sense of self. In reality, of course, you are only strengthening the illusion of ego.
Can you observe those patterns within yourself and recognize the complaining voice in your head for what it is?

January 18th More on the question of choice Do take this question of choice seriously for one moment. Simply look. What thought is going to arise next? Can awareness know what thought is going to appear before it appears? No, it cannot. Therefore, there is no choice or control. Thinking merely happens. The end of thought cannot be found through thought. The end of seeking cannot be found through seeking. In the story of you, you believe you are going somewhere, to some future moment of awakening. But you are not going anywhere. More precisely, there is no you to go anywhere. There is only thought happening. That thought paints a picture of past that you call, Who you are. It paints a picture of future that you call, Who you are going to become. But you are not thought. You are not the past or the future. Because you are not thought, you cannot find yourself through seeking, which is a dream of thought. In seeing that the spiritual search is happening all on its own, there is the possibility that awareness will start to see it for what it really is - a dream of thought. When awareness sees the dream of thought known as you and your spiritual search and sees that it is happening spontaneously and involuntarily, all of the mental and emotional effort drops out of the search. There is a natural resting into what is.

Spinning
(Continuation...)
HOW WE SPIN:
- We stand with our feet shoulder-width apart in an area with ample space to move.
- We internally declare our clear intention to use this procedure as a means to detoxify parasitic presences and activate emotional body awareness by tending to the well-being of our nine primary emotional body centers.
- We raise our arms straight out at our sides until they extend from our shoulders and are parallel with the ground. They are relaxed and slightly bent at the elbows.
- Our left palm faces upward and our right palm faces downward.
- We turn our head to focus our full optical attention into the center of our left palm.
- We commence spinning clockwise; from our left to our right. We always spin clockwise, no matter what hemisphere of the planet we reside in.
- As we spin, we keep our optical attention unwaveringly fixed in the palm of our left hand; this assists us to maintain balance and equilibrium. When our attention strays from our palm, we lose balance. By bringing our attention back into our left palm our balance is restored.
- As we spin we breathe deeply in and out through our nose. A complete inhale and exhale makes up one breath.
- We spin for the duration of 11, 22, or 33 deep in and out breaths. The significance of these particular numbers is not important. The duration of our spinning is therefore not determined by our number of rotations, but how many complete and connected breaths we take.
- As we stop spinning, we again come to a standing position in which our feet are shoulder-width apart and our knees slightly bent. The way we a stop determines the impulse-frequency of the energetic charge activated in our emotional centers. Initially, it is therefore advised we stop spinning gently. As we become skilled at, and comfortable with this procedure, we discover the more abruptly we stop our body spinning, the more of an energetic kick we activate throughout our field. If we have spun a spinning top by using a piece of string to whip it into motion, we know it is the final quick-flick of the wrist that causes the top to spin magnificently. The abruptness in which we come to a standstill after completing our Spinning practice duplicates the same impact in kick-starting our energy centers.
- Once stationary, we ensure our back, neck, and head are aligned so we are looking forward.
- We place our hands in a prayer position with our thumbs against the center of our chest. This hand position energetically combines the left and right-hand side of our body, our female and male side, and aligns this energy, through our thumbs, with our heart center.
- We keep our breathing connected, but gently so.
- We keep our eyes open and observe, without attempting to focus, whatever occurs ahead of us. The room continues to spin after we stop. We observe the movement until it ceases completely, without attempting to follow it with our attention. We allow ourselves to see what unfolds without attempting to look at any specific aspect of it.
- Once the movement before us stops completely, we close our eyes and place our full attention on our individual Chakras. We begin with our Root, Abdomen, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Alto Major, Nasal, Eye, and finally the Crown. We place our awareness on each of these emotional body centers for a second or two without attempting to do anything. (If we are not aware of where these specific centers are located within our body, it is recommended to read or buy a simple book on the subject, or to ask someone who may know. It is unnecessary to study our energetic system in detail to activate it.)
- We stand for a moment and feel our entire Sushumna; we feel the central energy column running up the center of our body and the nine energy centers situated upon it as one cohesive unit. This may take practice; we are not to try to visualize this, but instead allow ourselves to feel it.
- As we stand within our activated energetic field, we align our energetic flow with a clear intent by internally repeating our Emotional Body Radiance Statement once, slowly and clearly. (This is taught to us after this discussion on Spinning.)
- We smile and acknowledge ourselves for being responsible enough to manage our own energy levels. (It is recommended to go to a mirror and express our gratitude to our C.A.S.T. for their support and participation.)

Nisargadatta "I Am That - Talks with Nisargadatta Maharaj"

Chapter 93
Man is not the Doer
Questioner: From the beginning of my life I am pursued by a sense of incompleteness. From school to college, to work, to marriage, to affluence, I imagined that the next thing will surely give me peace, but there was no peace. This sense of unfulfillment keeps on growing as years pass by.
Maharaj: As long as there is the body and the sense of identity with the body, frustration is inevitable. Only when you know yourself as entirely alien to and different from the body, will you find respite from the mixture of fear and craving inseparable from the 'I-am-the-body' idea. Merely assuaging fears and satisfying desires will not remove this sense of emptiness you are trying to escape from; only self-knowledge can help you. By self-knowledge I mean full knowledge of what you are not. Such knowledge is attainable and final; but to the discovery of what you are there can be no end. The more you discover, the more there remains to discover.

 From Above...
(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above.) |
From Nisargadatta (1/4/12): "Use every incident of the day to remind you that without you as the witness there would be neither animal nor God." ++++++
From Michael Brown (1/2/12): "Our overall energy levels are a direct reflection of the condition of our emotional body."
Jordan: This is interesting and good to know.
