Going Beyond Judgment

"You cannot enter
witness consciousness
if you are still holding on
to judgments.
It is not possible.

Because judgments
separate you from
everything else.

But I am not saying
"don't have judgments"
but rather, in meditation,
turn your attention
back on to yourself
and accept what is there.

Accept whatever thoughts are there,
whatever feelings are there,
whatever sensations are there.

Not in the sense of a self-help idea
of "I accept and love myself as I am"
because in that you are still
placing something on top
of what is already here.

But rather
simply see what is
without any involvement.

Perhaps at first
from an intellectual understanding
it may be to see you are as you are
without adding anything on to that.

But from there,
if you really accept
what is happening in this moment
the personal sense of "me"
disappears.

If you really allow
your thoughts
and at the same time
you are aware of your thoughts,
they no longer are your thoughts.

By fully relaxing into this moment
to the point where you can
notice what is happening
without any personal involvement
with it whatsoever,
a shift happens.

This sense of
a personal "me"
disappears and there
is simply is-ness.

The action of thinking
is there on it's own
as is-ness itself.

Everything simply is,
consciousness simply is,
existence simply is.
There is no person
perceiving it but rather
the essence of everything
as consciousness
is aware of being conscious.
Not as an object
but as limitless energy.

The idea of time disappears
and there is only
the eternal now,
surprising itself
with it's own delightful
appearances and disappearances.

Blessings,

Kip"

Chapter 2

Beyond the Thinking Mind

You may have overlooked that brief periods in which you are "conscious without thought" are already occurring naturally and spontaneously in your life. You may be engaged in some manual activity, or walking across the room, or waiting at the
airline counter, and be so completely present that the usual mental static of thought subsides and is replaced by an aware presence. Or you may find yourself looking at the sky or listening to someone without any inner mental commentary. Your perceptions become crystal clear, unclouded by thought.

To the mind, all this is not significant, because it has "more important" things to think about. It is also not memorable, and that's why you may have overlooked that it is already happening.

The truth is that it is the most significant thing that can happen to you. It is the beginning of a shift from thinking to aware presence.

Timeless awareness (conceptuality v. actuality)

No matter what words are used to point to timeless awareness, the pointers are only concepts. What is being pointed to is not conceptual.

These reflections are not inviting you to start buying into a new set of enlightened concepts. It is easy to go around thinking and talking a lot about presence or this moment while missing completely the immediately accessible non-conceptual awareness that is being pointed to here. In that case, presence becomes the new conceptual story of the dream self. The script in this story is I am present or I am working towards being present.

But the words timeless awareness are pointing to the fact that there is no person to be, or work towards being, present or aware. The person is a conceptual, time-bound story arising in the timeless awareness that is awake now.

Timeless awareness is also only a concept and, as such, the mind can confuse the concept with the actuality to which it is pointing. The words are not that which they describe. So, although ìtimeless awarenessî is a concept, it is pointing sharply to an actuality. The pointer timeless awareness is pointing to the actual, non-conceptual space in which all concepts (including time and self) arise and fall. It points to that which is looking in (and as) the space of this moment before an interpretation about the moment appears. The catch is that every concept is an interpretation.

Spinning

(Continuation...)

How and why does Spinning activate an increased energy flow? The answer to this is in the chakra system running along a central energetic channel within our body. In some eastern disciplines this central energy channel is called the Sushumna. Most of us are by now aware through books and workshops that we contain seven main chakras, or energy vortices, or emotional body centers, in the human body. Because we cannot yet perceive our own energy centers, most of us do not know this, yet believe it to be true. When, through activating emotional body awareness, we perceive our energy centers, we will realize the assumption that we contain only seven main energy centers running up the Sushumna is incorrect. It is outdated.

Changeless Presence

(Continuation...)

[And if the appearance of Consciousness has never been experienced, what validity is there to the claim that Consciousness appears, that it has a beginning, that it was born?]

Likewise have we ever experienced an end to Consciousness? If we experienced the disappearance of Consciousness, there would have to be another Consciousness present to witness this disappearance. And this 'new' Consciousness, which witnessed the disappearance of the 'old' Consciousness, would have to be present during and after its disappearance, in order to make the claim legitimately that it witnessed its disappearance.

Therefore we cannot claim that we ever have the experience of the disappearance of Consciousness, and so what validity is there to our conviction that we, as Consciousness, die?

We experience a beginning and an end to all objects, but we never experience a beginning or an end to Consciousness, to our Self.

Chapter 92

Go Beyond the l-am-the-body Idea

(Continuation...)

Q: And what remains?

M: That which cannot change, remains. The great peace, the deep silence, the hidden beauty of reality remain. While it cannot be conveyed through words, it is waiting for you to experience for yourself.

Q: Must not one be fit and eligible for realization? Our nature is animal to the core. Unless it is conquered, how can we hope for reality to dawn?

M: Leave the animal alone. Let it be. Just remember what you are. Use every incident of the day to remind you that without you as the witness there would be neither animal nor God. Understand that you are both, the essence and the substance of all there is and remain firm in your understanding.

From Nisargadatta (1/4/12):  "Use every incident of the day to remind you that without you as the witness there would be neither animal nor God."
++++++

From Michael Brown (1/2/12):  "Our overall energy levels are a direct reflection of the condition of our emotional body."

Jordan:  This is interesting and good to know.
