Acceptance
"If you want to learn acceptance, then the next time you are caught out in the rain without a raincoat or umbrella, rather than run for shelter, allow yourself to get wet. You will be very aware of the resistance to getting wet, that instinctual urge to run for shelter, the sense of 'me' that wants to protect itself. This is what must be surrendered in order to stay out in the rain. When this resistance is surrendered, and you allow yourself to fully feel the experience of being soaked, then there is a sense of freedom from yourself that carries with it a sense of deep unfathomable peace. It has nothing to do with liking the rain or not liking the rain. Rather, it is letting go of the one that likes or doesn't like, the one that separates itself from the rain in the first place. And when you do that you are simply left with what is. There is no you and what is, there is simply what is. And the experience of what is is peace, is delight. It is completely open and vulnerable and complete in itself. If you apply this experience of being in the rain to any situation, any emotion, then there will be incredible freedom. It has nothing to do with the particular experience, rather it is about letting go of the one that separates itself from experience, letting go of the one that tries to control the experience. Because it is that separation that creates all conflict. Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment by Scott Kiloby by BookSurge Publishing Paperback ~ release Date: 2009-08-10

November 18th The direct taste of what is No matter how clear the non-duality expression, it is only pointing to the richness of what is in the present moment. Imagine sitting with your back against a tree reading a book about orange groves. The book is clear in its description of the look of an orange grove and the taste of an orange. But no matter how many clear words are used, they are still only a second hand account of the real thing. The same is true for non-duality pointers. The words can be helpful to point but the pointers are ultimately seen to be false, a second hand account of life is that already happening. Awakening is akin to standing up from that tree, putting the book down, and realizing you have been unknowingly sitting in an orange grove the whole time. The sweet smell of oranges flows through the whispering breeze. The bright oranges hang from the tree, nestles in leaves, while perfect white orange blossoms scatter themselves everywhere. As tongue and mouth taste the sweet, succulent orange, you see that no words could ever describe that. It must be tasted directly. This is what non-duality is. It is not conceptual or intellectual. It is the direct taste of what is. Simple presence. Words can only point you there and show you that you have been avoiding this direct taste for years by thinking about life instead of realizing you are it. |

Chapter 4
Fact: Consciousness is the Infinite Itself
(Continuation...)
[Truly, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." That doesn't mean a separate "body-you" should care about other bodies or selves as much as it cares about itself. There are no separate selves. There literally is only this One I-Self-the All-Inclusive One I Am.] When saying "I" in everyday use, how often do you think of yourself as Life's Infinite I-Presence,invisible Aliveness Itself, instead of as a finite visible body? Being Infinity Itself, I never, ever will see Myself as some thing that appears or is objective. Invisibility is all there is to I. And I Am all there is to Invisibility. What does Infinity "behold" when all there is to "see" is Its own Infinity? In response to this question, the so-called finite, thinking "mind" draws a complete blank. Yet the answer to that question is One's Permanent Address. It's not a physical location; It's Alive Stuff.

The Ease Of Being
(Continuation...)
[To begin with the King does not notice that the enjoyment he feels in the marketplace is of the same nature as the enjoyment he feels in the palace, so he soon forgets that he is pretending.] Presently he begins to suffer and, having forgotten his birthright, tries all sorts of strategies within the marketplace in order to alleviate it. However, nothing that is on offer can remind him or return him to his palace. Seeing his plight and feeling powerless to help, the ministers dress up as ordinary men. From time to time the King encounters one of his disguised ministers and, without betraying their promise to treat him as a normal person, they indicate to him that he is not what he thinks and feels himself to be. Due to the depth of his amnesia, the King takes some time, but sooner or later, he remembers who he really is and returns to the palace, ordering the ministers to resume their official duties.

Chapter 89
Progress in Spiritual Life
(Contiuation...)
Q:All the attention I got was an attempt to convert me to their faith. When I resisted they lost all interest in me.
M:One does not become a disciple by conversion, or by accident. There is usually an ancient link, maintained through many lives and flowering as love and trust, without which there is no discipleship.
