States of Witnessing
"What your mind tells you about what is here and what is really here beyond mental perception are two completely different things. Thinking usually happens at such a speed that the reality you experience is not questioned. And what is the mind doing? It is defining, describing and judging and justifying those definitions, descriptions and judgments.
It is constantly creating and reinforcing a sense of "me" that is separate from everything else and thus there is conflict. But if you take a step back and observe thinking, observe the process of thoughts arising, then this whole mind perception begins to fall apart. At first, the idea of the thinker will disappear and you will see thoughts are arising by themselves. From here, all judgmental thoughts will stop arising. As you go deeper, all personal thoughts of "me" and everything in relation to this personal "me" disappears and there is an incredible sense of freedom. Then you enter dream states, visions, esoteric and subtle thinking that cannot be comprehended by the intellectual mind.
And beyond this is mental noise.
And beyond that mental noise is silence, a sense of nothingness, pure consciousness. The beauty of it is, the moment you begin observing the thinking instead of identifying with thoughts, that sense of stress and conflict considerably dissipates and there is incredible peace.
And with each level of witnessing you sink into, you let go of another subtler sense of self and this peace and bliss increases. Judgments stop, the bliss increases, the personal sense of "me" as you know yourself to be disappears and the bliss increases. You keep moving closer and closer to the essence of what is really here, to pure peace, pure consciousness and you become more and more free.
It starts with observation, with witnessing, but then what happens cannot be explained, you feel your way into it, you let yourself go into it. Kind of like when you go to sleep at night. You lie down and relax and then you let yourself go into sleep. You don't really know intellectually how it happens, because it happens beyond the perception of mind. Blessings, Kip" Please Note: My main teaching is for you to immerse yourself in Kundalini Shakti - the energy one naturally radiates in the highest states of enlightenment. Breitenbush 01 - The Rains Retreat - The Journey Home by Eckhart Tolle |
 | | Eckhart Tolle |
Tape 6
[And no matter where you are you can step out of thought into the state of pure attention.]
So, the essence of this retreat could never leave you. The outer form of it evaporates quickly. When you wake up on Sunday or Monday morning in your usual surroundings you may not even know if you've been dreaming all this, that week you've spent in this rainy place in the middle of nature, sitting in a group of people everyday and having hot tub, soaking in a hot tub. Was that a dream or did it really happen?

Fear of death
Objects appear in awareness. These objects include experiences, states, feelings, paths, practices, and concepts. Awareness is not any of those objects. You can never find awareness because You are a mental object in awareness.
Suffering and searching happen because there is identification with objects in awareness. As awareness mistakes itself to be an object (i.e., a separate person), it sees this separate me entity as finite and subject to death. A fear of death arises with that mistake. Awareness grasps for some state, experience, thought, feeling, path, practice or other object to solidify the separateness and survival of the "me." The separate self will never rid itself of this fear of death because it is an illusion built from that fear.
Awareness is already free of the fear of death. It was never born. It is that which is looking at the me story including its fear and grasping. In seeing that who you really are is this awareness, the grasping stops. With no more illusory me grasping at objects, each and every experience, thought, feeling, relationship, and other object is allowed to be exactly as it is.
There is no longer a searching for fulfillment, survival, and identification in objects. It is seen that what you truly are is this awareness and that this awareness (i.e., nothingness, spirit) is appearing as every object (i.e., every thought, feeling, experience, state). In realizing this Oneness, the fear of death dies.

Chapter 4
Fact: Consciousness is the Infinite Itself
(Continuation...)
[See if it's possible to reach a bottom of this Alive I-Presence, so you come to an end, or use It up.]
Can it be done? Keep trying to find an end. Go in any direction. Go as far as possible. Pay no attention if the eyes try to tell you that the body ends at one point, or the room comes to an end somewhere else. Stay with Infinite Aliveness only. Can a line be drawn showing where Alive I-Presence starts or ends? Is it possible to feel a physical wall to I, or even a mental wall, where I stop being alive, stop being I? There simply is no point anywhere, at which I come to an end. Equally, no point can be found where I begin. I Am end-less. I Am beginning-less. I Am infinite. Infinity is not theoretical, not a lifeless mathematical concept.

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion: Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"
The Presence Portal |
| | Michael Brown |
From PART V: 6. (Continuation...)
When we intend to breathe the resonance of Presence into a forthcoming event, it is also advisable to do so at least three days before the actual occurrence. This allows time and space for the surfacing and conscious integration of any unresolved issues arising as a consequence of our request to bring added Presence to this occasion. These may be issues that sabotaged us in the past whenever similar circumstances occurred. The breathing therefore assists us into being more present by facilitating us into resolving past issues that are distracting or sabotaging us.

The Transparency of Things by Rupert Spira by Non-Duality Press Paperback

The Ease Of Being
(Continuation...)
Consciousness is free to withdraw its exclusive identification with the body/mind whenever it pleases. We forget that as an infant we gradually learnt to identify our Self, Consciousness, with successive levels of the body and the mind. In most cases the withdrawal of this identification happens in reverse order, in a series of stages, starting with the most obvious layers of identification with the body and the mind, and continuing to the deepest layers.

Chapter 88
Knowledge by the Mind, is not True Knowledge
(Continuation...)
Q:Can one know the mind of another person?
M:Know you own mind first. It contains the entire universe and with space to spare!
Q:Your working theory seems to be that the waking state is not basically different from dream and the dreamless sleep. The three states are essentially a case of mistaken self-identification with the body. Maybe it is true, but I feel, it is not the whole truth.
M:Do not try to know the truth, for knowledge by the mind is not true knowledge. But you can know what is not true -- which is enough to liberate you from the false. The idea that you know what is true is dangerous, for it keeps you imprisoned in the mind. It is when you do not know, that you are free to investigate. And there can be no salvation, without investigation, because non-investigation is the main cause of bondage.
