The Fundamentals of Meditation
"The reason why you suffer is because you unconsciously avoid this moment. You are unconsciously but constantly resisting this moment; separating yourself from this moment. So the path of awareness in meditation is to get you back to this moment. And the first part of meditation is to sit still.
Because the most physical way you avoid this moment is by being restless in the body. It does not mean that you cannot be present while moving.
But for this meditation, the first part is to sit still and allow that resistance to sitting still be burned away in awareness. The second and main way you avoid this moment is through identifying with your thinking. You are sitting still yet you are thinking about what you have to do tomorrow.
The thought itself does not take you out of this moment, but your identifying with the thought does. The thought arises "I have to go to work tomorrow" and you are the "I" in that sentence. And like you are in a dream, you are lost in the imagination of tomorrow. You have successfully escaped this moment. This is identification.
Even thinking about being present keeps you from being present. So then the second part is to learn to either witness your thinking, let go of your thinking, inquire into what is here beyond thinking, rest your attention on the bliss that is here beyond thinking or to even focus thought by repeating a mantra. Any of these methods are to help keep you present or at least give you a taste of the present moment. But the truth of it is that you cannot be present. The "you" who you think you are, is that which is separate from the present moment. It is the very resistance to the present moment.
So another way to look at it is that you relinquish the idea of yourself to realize the present moment, to realize your are the present moment and in this you are free from suffering. For however long you can remain free from thought identification resting in your natural state of pure awareness there is peace. And every time you drop into pure awareness this peace expands and floods into all aspects of your life. Blessings, Kip" Please Note: My main teaching is for you to immerse yourself in Kundalini Shakti - the energy one naturally radiates in the highest states of enlightenment. Breitenbush 01 - The Rains Retreat - The Journey Home by Eckhart Tolle |

Tape 5
(Continuation)
[The need is very great and the potential is very great here. So, it is all connected.]
It was no coincidence either that we had that retreat, of course when it was planned, nobody knew that these events would happen. That retreat was so close with 350, 450 had originally booked but that many couldn't make it. But still, 350 just a few days after made it somehow. We were in New York state, close in space and time to those events. 350 people and many of those expressed what you expressed, felt that very strongly and then a deepening happened. They faced death. And saw.

Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment by Scott Kiloby by BookSurge Publishing Paperback ~ release Date: 2009-08-10

November 4th
The word is not that which it describes
By reading the word "muffin," are you able to taste a muffin? If this reflection uses the word "playground," do you find yourself swinging on a swing set? Words are not that which they describe.
There is a tendency to buy into spiritual concepts - enlightenment, non-duality, presence, Oneness, awareness, God, and even the word "spirituality." But these words are only pointing to awakening to the actuality of life beyond your concepts about life. Suffering and searching happen only because the mind is identified with concepts, mainly the idea of a separate self based in lack. There may be a tendency to even buy into what this reflection is saying as if it's the truth. The mind just wants to land on some conclusion about 'This.'
But to really see and know 'This,' there must be a direct, immediate experiencing of the life within you and before your eyes. To bite down on this thing we call a "muffin" is to really know what a muffin is. To swing on a swing set is to directly and immediately experience that to which the word "playground" is pointing.
Similarly, when it is realized that spiritual concepts are only ever pointing to the direct and immediate experiencing of actual life right now, an unconditional love of what is arises. No concept could ever be that love. Love is actual. It is the essence of life itself.

Chapter 4
Fact: Consciousness is the Infinite Itself
(Continuation...)
Is this invisible I, in terms of Itself alone, part of a physical anatomy? Is I solid or dense? Does I have edges or a border to It, like a material object? Or is I an incredible softness having no density, no edge at all?
Meanwhile, this "voice," this I-ness, is a specific, distinct presence.
Exactly where is I-Presence coming from?
It is "coming from" Consciousness. In fact, I does not come from anywhere. I is permanently present, for I is Life's own present-ness or Presence.

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion: Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"
The Presence Portal |

From PART V: 6. After completing the entire Process, aside from our 15 minutes breathing twice a day, are there other circumstances that we respond to by breathing ourselves? (Continuation...)
We are therefore to take care not to use the breathing as a tool of reaction or a means to force resolution. For example, we may wake up one morning feeling depressed. When we feel severely depressed, it is not necessarily beneficial to attend to a dedicated breathing session, because we may approach it as a means of distraction; as a reaction instead of a response to our feelings of depression. The example set by the world in a time-based paradigm teaches us that whenever we enter an unfamiliar energetic experience, and hence one we perceive as uncomfortable, that something is wrong and therefore a change is required. This collective belief is responsible for the reactive behaviors controlling and sedating much of our life experience. More often than not, the best course of action when we feel uncomfortable is to allow ourselves to feel what it feels like; to embrace the opportunity to look as deeply as possible into the energetic experience we are moving through. It is our feeling of it that moves us through it.

The Transparency of Things by Rupert Spira by Non-Duality Press Paperback

The Ease Of Being
(Continuation...)
From the point of view of the mind these moments last for a period of time. They are considered to be caused by the objects that preceded them and to effect those that follow. They are seen to arise fleetingly to punctuate the seemingly continuous appearance of the body, mind and world. However, from the point of view of Consciousness, it is itself the continuous Presence out of which the fleeting appearances of the body, mind and world bubble up from time to time, and is itself their cause. These moments in between the appearance of objects are in fact timeless. They are neither linked together nor separated by time or space.

Chapter 88
Knowledge by the Mind, is not True Knowledge
(Continuation...)
Q:Christ also speaks of ignoring evil and being child-like.
M:Reality is common to all. Only the false is personal.
Q:As I watch the sadhakas and enquire into the theories by which they live, I find they have merely replaced material cravings by 'spiritual' ambitions. From what you tell us it looks as if the words: 'spiritual' and 'ambition' are incompatible. If 'spirituality' implies freedom from ambition, what will urge the seeker on? The Yogis speak of the desire for liberation as essential. Is it not the highest form of ambition?
M:Ambition is personal, liberation is from the personal. In liberation both the subject and the object of ambition are no longer. Earnestness is not a yearning for the fruits of one's endeavors. It is an expression of an inner shift of interest away from the false, unessential, the personal.
