Breaking the Barrier
"One method of meditation is to simply be vulnerable to this moment. To let go of trying to justify who you are and what you know and really allow yourself to feel what is here. This is difficult only because of the mind. The mind comes in and already knows it; agrees or disagrees with it, has an opinion about it. And it is not that you have to get rid of that, but rather to give up taking a position in that, in believing this is "me." You have all of these thoughts flowing. It is not to stop the thoughts or change the thoughts, but rather to see the thoughts are flowing.
To see thoughts are arising by themselves. You can step back out of being this person and watch all of these processes happening which make up the idea of "me." And you will see in this that there is no set singular "me" but rather a whole bunch of processes happening. Thinking is happening, sensations are happening, breathing is happening. The ego could really be said to be that which grabs hold of all of these processes happening and claims "this is me." And then there is something to justify, there is something to defend. There is a position made that says "these thoughts are me, this knowledge is mine" and unconsciously there is so much effort trying to maintain this idea, this sense of being a person separate from everything else. And it is not to take a position to say "I am not a separate person" but rather to stop taking a position at all, to stop justifying any sense of me and simply feel what is here without using the intellect to interpret it, to label it, or justify it in any way. To be completely open to what is really here in this moment beyond thinking. And then throughout the day to become aware of all of the ways you justify yourself and to let go of that, to be vulnerable to what is here and what is happening rather than trying to fight it, trying to control it. It will hurt in a way, it will break your heart to be so vulnerable to life. But once you do experience that you will love that hurt, you will miss it if it is gone. Because that hurt really isn't a pain, but rather an opening into what is here. By feeling this you begin to break through the barrier of this idea of "me" and realize freedom. You realize you exist beyond all ideas of 'me' as consciousness itself.
Blessings,
Kip"

Breitenbush 01 - The Rains Retreat - The Journey Home by Eckhart Tolle |
 | | Eckhart Tolle |
Tape 5
(Continuation)
Facing it (death) without running away from it. And by facing it, the fragility of all forms realize there's another side to it. Be open to it. Don't run away from the fact of death when you walk back to your cabin, all of the beautiful leaves they are dying and yet in nature you realize the beauty and sacredness there is in death. When you walk through an ancient forest, half of the things that you see are rotting and dying and yet they're not because immediately new life arises out of that. When you walk through an ancient forest so much decaying matter is everywhere which is life is inseparable from death in the ancient forest, death is inseparable from life.

Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment by Scott Kiloby by BookSurge Publishing Paperback ~ release Date: 2009-08-10

October 27th
I got it, I lost it
You are sitting on your porch and it is seen that all there is, is This. There is no one there measuring whether this current experience is good or bad or better than some other past or future experience.
In that moment, time stands still. The utter beauty and simplicity of 'what is' is realized. The story of self falls away. Then you go about your day and notice at some point that the peace left. The dream of self is back.
The sense of "I got it" is identification with a particular experience. It is the false belief that reality is supposed to look a certain way and that, when that certain way appears, you've somehow "got it." The sense of "I lost it" is when the mind believes it has to get back to that experience once the experience is gone. This is a trap. All experiences are temporary. To continue looking for some past experience is to keep the search alive.
Enlightenment just means the recognition that whatever is appearing now is a perfect expression of awareness. The dream self can never recognize this because its only goal is to keep the time-bound story alive - to keep the search going. See that the trap of "I got it" and "I lost it" is the mind's way of keeping that search going. That seeing allows the oscillation between "I got it" and "I lost it" to fade.

Chapter 4
Fact: Consciousness is the Infinite Itself
(Continuation...)
In science and mathematics, infinity is mistakenly considered to be an endlessly extending finity. The traditional mistaken concept says you could pick up that stick mentioned earlier, only this time if the stick somehow stretched forever without coming to an end-that, supposedly, would be "infinity." But you've still got the stick. You could measure parts of it.
In true Infinity, there is no stick.

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion: Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"
The Presence Portal |

From PART V: 4. After completing Session 10, how long do we wait before re-entering the Process? (Continuation...)
By opening ourselves to this resonance, by establishing an intimate relationship with ourselves, we will intuitively know when it is time to re-enter the Process. It may be after three weeks, or two months, or a year. It may be not be necessary for us to re-enter it at all. It is different for everyone. However, when our Inner Voice instructs us to begin, we are not to resist or procrastinate. Often, when The Presence Process comes to mind, accompanied by a feeling of great inner resistance, this is a sure sign that it is time to re-enter. |

The Ease Of Being
(Continuation...)
These teachings often make a goal of Nirvikalpa Samadhi, the experience of Consciousness knowing itself without an object, which has in most cases to be maintained through effort, in order to keep at bay what is considered to be the dangerous and distracting realm of thinking, feeling, sensing and perceiving. However, it would be a misunderstanding to imply that by establishing Consciousness as the independent witness, distinct from the witnessed, a dualistic paradigm of subject and object is being condoned.

Chapter 87
Keep the Mind Silent And You Shall Discover
(Continuation...)
Q: Sir, I am getting drowned in a sea of words! I can see that all depends on how the words are out together, but there must be somebody to put them together -- meaningfully. By drawing words at random the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavata could never be produced. The theory of accidental emergence is not tenable. The origin of the meaningful must be beyond it. What is the power that creates order out of chaos? Living is more than being, and consciousness is more than living. Who is the conscious living being?
M: Your question contains the answer: a conscious living being is a conscious living being. The words are most appropriate, but you do not grasp their full import. Go deep into the meaning of the words: being, living, conscious, and you will stop running in circles, asking questions, but missing answers. Do understand that you cannot ask a valid question about yourself, because you do not know whom you are asking about. In the question 'Who am I?' the 'I' is not known and the question can be worded as: "I do not know what I mean by 'I'" What you are, you must find out. I can only tell you what you are not. You are not of the world, you are not even in the world. The world is not, you alone are. You create the world in your imagination like a dream. As you cannot separate the dream from yourself, so you cannot have an outer world independent of yourself. You are independent, not the world. Don't be afraid of a world you yourself have created. Cease from looking for happiness and reality in a dream and you will wake up. You need not know 'why' and 'how', there is no end to questions. Abandon all desires, keep your mind silent and you shall discover.
