Breaking the Barrier
"One method of meditation is to simply be vulnerable to this moment. To let go of trying to justify who you are and what you know and really allow yourself to feel what is here. This is difficult only because of the mind. The mind comes in and already knows it; agrees or disagrees with it, has an opinion about it. And it is not that you have to get rid of that, but rather to give up taking a position in that, in believing this is "me." You have all of these thoughts flowing. It is not to stop the thoughts or change the thoughts, but rather to see the thoughts are flowing.
To see thoughts are arising by themselves. You can step back out of being this person and watch all of these processes happening which make up the idea of "me." And you will see in this that there is no set singular "me" but rather a whole bunch of processes happening. Thinking is happening, sensations are happening, breathing is happening. The ego could really be said to be that which grabs hold of all of these processes happening and claims "this is me." And then there is something to justify, there is something to defend. There is a position made that says "these thoughts are me, this knowledge is mine" and unconsciously there is so much effort trying to maintain this idea, this sense of being a person separate from everything else. And it is not to take a position to say "I am not a separate person" but rather to stop taking a position at all, to stop justifying any sense of me and simply feel what is here without using the intellect to interpret it, to label it, or justify it in any way. To be completely open to what is really here in this moment beyond thinking. And then throughout the day to become aware of all of the ways you justify yourself and to let go of that, to be vulnerable to what is here and what is happening rather than trying to fight it, trying to control it. It will hurt in a way, it will break your heart to be so vulnerable to life. But once you do experience that you will love that hurt, you will miss it if it is gone. Because that hurt really isn't a pain, but rather an opening into what is here. By feeling this you begin to break through the barrier of this idea of "me" and realize freedom. You realize you exist beyond all ideas of 'me' as consciousness itself.
Blessings,
Kip"

Tape 5 (Continuation...)
And here an interesting phenomena collectively, those thousands of people of died (9/11), many more thousands - family members were directly affected by that, many more millions were indirectly affected by that because it was close to everybody, it was even close to people in Europe. My mother called me who lives in Europe and she cried on the telephone about it. So, it was close to many people in the world and people have reported that behavior of people in New York, and the behavior of people in New York are supposed to be not very...umm (laughter) - whatever - (more laughter), well, they're in a hurry, so don't stop them. And something shifted and strangers talk to each other. There was somebody on TV even talked about a shift in the whole American psyche, which had been until now a type A personality. Not those people here (meaning at the workshop), mostly.

Emotions
A common misconception about enlightenment is that "negative" emotions go away. It is true that, in this realization, awareness is no longer attached to thoughts of past and future. Thoughts still arise but they aren'tblindly believed. So "negative" emotions that arise in conjunction with the mental story of me tend to arise less.
But emotions still arise. Enlightenment does not exclude anything - including any emotion, thought, experience, or state. It is the opening in which everything is happening. It is a seeing, not a denying of what is. Ultimately, it is pure awareness being completely open to whatever emotion, thought, experience, or state is happening at the moment.
When emotion arises, it arises to no one. The emotion does not attach itself to a time-bound story of "me." It isn't accumulated and held in the body. It comes and goes.
Enlightenment just means presence. In presence, emotions may be more painful than ever. Thought is no longer being used to justify, rationalize, and blame. There is no more escaping. The raw emotion is felt directly. There is a total freedom to feel but there is no identification with what is being felt. For example, there is no longer the story, "I'm angry." There is only anger, coming and going to no one. When there is no accumulation of pain and stories, there is a freshness in each moment, an openness to whatever arises next.

Chapter 4
Fact: Consciousness is the Infinite Itself
(Continuation...)
To the Awareness You now are, being infinite is as basic as can be. Infinite doesn't mean rocket science. Nor does infinite mean anything supernatural, esoteric, or afar off.
Really look at the word again. Pull it apart and completely de-mystify it once and for all.
In-finite.
It literally means not finis-or not finishing or ending anywhere. But that also means having no place where it begins. In other words, infinity can't be pointed to anywhere, as if it were a stick, a planet, or even an atomic particle. Infinite means having no finite form whatsoever. None.
Infinite means not observable, not measurable or limited in any way.

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion: Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"
The Presence Portal |
| | Michael Brown |
From PART V: 4. After completing Session 10, how long do we wait before re-entering the Process? (Continuation...)
It is not recommended to set a schedule or to establish plans as to when we think we ought to re-enter the Process. It is better we intend a time after completing the experience for quietness and stillness, enabling us to listen, feel, and become vulnerable to the promptings of our Inner Presence. This is a good opportunity to activate a deeper relationship with our internal C.A.S.T. by spending quiet and still moments with ourselves; acknowledging what we accomplish, validating our bravery for facing our demons, opening ourselves to crystallizing the clarity of our intentions, and building momentum for the endless road ahead. It is recommended we keep up our mirror-work as a part of the way we facilitate ourselves through this world and not treat it as a temporary activity we need to finish so we may go onto something else. Making an authentic friend in this world requires time, experience, and unconditional input; let us do whatever is required to become this friend for ourselves and to ourselves. |

The Ease Of Being
(Continuation...)
Consciousness is one with the totality of every experience, not just with a fragment, the body/mind. In order to affect this second stage of understanding, Consciousness first disengages itself from its exclusive identification with a single body/mind, and comes to know itself as nothing, as not-a-thing, not an object or an appearance. It comes to know itself as the witness of all objects, before re-engaging with the totality of its experience and recognizing itself as everything.

Chapter 87
Keep the Mind Silent And You Shall Discover
(Continuation...)
[...know yourself to be the cause of desire and fear, itself free from both.]
Q: How am I the cause of fear?
M: All depends on you. It is by your consent that the world exists. Withdraw your belief in its reality and it will dissolve like a dream. Time can bring down mountains; much more you, who are the timeless source of time. For without memory and expectation there can be no time.
