Breaking the Barrier

"One method of meditation
is to simply be vulnerable
to this moment.

To let go of
trying to justify
who you are and what
you know
and really allow
yourself to feel what is here.

This is difficult only
because of the mind.

The mind comes in
and already knows it;
agrees or disagrees with it,
has an opinion about it.

And it is not that you have
to get rid of that,
but rather to give up
taking a position in that,
in believing this is "me."

You have all of these
thoughts flowing.
It is not to stop the thoughts
or change the thoughts,
but rather to see
the thoughts are flowing.

To see thoughts are
arising by themselves.

You can step back
out of being this person
and watch all of these
processes happening
which make up the idea
of "me."

And you will see in this
that there is no set
singular "me"
but rather a whole bunch
of processes happening.

Thinking is happening,
sensations are happening,
breathing is happening.

The ego could really be said
to be that which grabs hold
of all of these processes happening
and claims "this is me."

And then there is something to justify,
there is something to defend.

There is a position made that says
"these thoughts are me,
this knowledge is mine"
and unconsciously there is so much
effort trying to maintain this idea,
this sense of being a person
separate from everything else.

And it is not to take a position
to say "I am not a separate person"
but rather to stop taking a position at all,
to stop justifying any sense of me
and simply feel what is here
without using the intellect
to interpret it, to label it,
or justify it in any way.

To be completely open
to what is really here in this moment
beyond thinking.

And then throughout the day
to become aware of all of the
ways you justify yourself
and to let go of that,
to be vulnerable to what is here
and what is happening
rather than trying to fight it,
trying to control it.

It will hurt in a way,
it will break your heart
to be so vulnerable
to life.

But once you do experience that
you will love that hurt,
you will miss it
if it is gone.

Because that hurt
really isn't a pain,
but rather an opening
into what is here.

By feeling this
you begin to break through
the barrier of this idea of "me"
and realize freedom.

You realize you exist
beyond all ideas of 'me'
as consciousness itself.

Blessings,

Kip"

[whenever death happens some, even those people that are not directly effected by it but are close to it, some of that redemptive dimension of death can be transmitted to them.]

And this has been....people who have sat with dying people, have said that they themselves have said that by facing not denying - if you can truly sit with a dying person without denying the fact of death because some people in the Western world will continuously deny this.  And doctors in hospitals might tell you, they know you're dying and they say, "Oh, you'll be okay, you'll be fine tomorrow."  And if you can truly sit with a dying person, and you too, in the face of, although you yourself are not, something in you dies when you face death close to you, someone close to you.  Something in you dies.

When two dreams meet

When thought looks out into the world, it projects a dream in which it is believed that people should do what you want them to do. It's all about control.  Each body/mind that believes itself to be a separate person is projecting such a dream.  When two dreams meet, there is potential for conflict.

The illusion of control may manifest, for example, when your co-worker fails to tell you about an important phone call.  Suddenly, you find yourself angrily telling her how incompetent she is.  Your spouse nags at you to fix the broken mailbox.  In response, a thought arises that your spouse should not be nagging.

Is it true that life should be different than the way it really is?  If your co-worker forgot the phone call, that is reality.  If your spouse is nagging, that is reality.  In your dream, something other than reality is supposed to happen.

While arguing with reality, the present moment
is being filtered through thoughts about the
other person rather than how the moment actually is.  Stated another way, you are looking at the
other person through the veil of time - through
past conclusions about who they are or future
ideals regarding how you would like them
to be.

When reality does not match your dream of thought, conflict arises.  Love is then conditional.  When you meet someone without the veil of time, you meet them in unconditional love.  Love is meeting itself.

Chapter 4

Fact:  Consciousness is the Infinite Itself

(Continuation...)

Try as hard as you can to come up with another Infinite somewhere. You never will. Whatever you would refer to as another "infinite," it always would have to be some concept or thing that you alone appeared to be conscious of in order to even mention it. Thus it would be a finite concept and not the Infinite. You alone are the Infinite-as Consciousness Itself.

That is so huge in significance it's almost indescribable! That which is called "the Infinite" never is something separate from you that you must ultimately reach, evolve to, or become conscious of.

From PART V: 3.

Why is it necessary to continue our breathing        practice after Session 10?

(Continuation...)

For many, many lifetimes we have lived unconsciously and hence reactively. In this respect we cannot expect ten weeks of processing to undo our addiction to this behavior; this is being unrealistic. By attending to our breathing practice for at least three to six months after completing the Process, we instil the frequency of responsibility as a way of our being in this world. With consistent application over time, we transform the nature of how we are in this world; we move about as divine alchemists, without putting thought into it, without any trying involved. We no longer engage in processing work as though it is something separate from our life experience; instead we become the process. At this stage there is no turning back. Then the quality of our life experience increases in joy, health, and abundance beyond our present comprehension. But first it requires consistent determination and perseverance. In this respect, discipline, repetition, consistency, and continuation are key words to imbed into our relationship with connected breathing.

The Ease Of Being

(Continuation...)

The 'I-am-the-body' idea arises in Consciousness, just like any other appearance and, as such, it is the form that Consciousness takes at that moment.

However, the fact that it arises in Consciousness doesn't necessarily make it true, any more than the thought that two plus two equals five, which also arises in Consciousness, is true.

It is an expression of Truth, but it is not true.

Chapter 87

Keep the Mind Silent And You Shall Discover

(Continuation...)

Q: If I cease trusting words altogether, what will be my condition?

M: There is a season for trusting and for distrusting. Let the seasons do their work, why worry?

Q: Somehow I feel responsible for what happens around me.

M: You are responsible only for what you can change. All you can change is only your attitude. There lies your responsibility.
