2 Methods of Meditation
"One path of meditation is to firmly fix your attention in this moment. To not let yourself get caught up in thinking but rather to directly experience what is here beyond thinking and to remain in that. Do not try to stop thinking but rather keep your attention fixed on what is here beyond thinking, allowing the thoughts to go as as they arise. You could also simply dip in and out of that. To let your focus rest in what is here beyond thinking for as long as is comfortable and then lose yourself in thinking again. To dip in and out of it is very blissful, but if you want to be really intense about it you can keep your attention in this moment without allowing yourself to get caught up in thinking. This method will be uncomfortable, like trying to make a puppy be still when it wants to run all over the place. But with practice, if you can remain in that, then what first feels uncomfortable, will begin to feel natural. You will burn away all of the tendencies that keep pulling you out of this moment until all that is left is this moment. Another path would be to awaken bliss by focusing your attention on an object of bliss/shakti. Such as silently repeating a mantra or the name of a Guru, Saint or God or even repeating "I am" and focusing on the feeling of being. In doing this, you awaken the Shakti, you awaken the bliss and then you simply meditate on the bliss, letting your mind be focused on the repetition of the name/mantra and letting your attention move deeper and deeper into the bliss. Both methods are valid. If you practice awakening the bliss, then most likely at some point it will lead you to the first path of stillness.
And if you practice stillness, at some point it may turn into devotion. What is most important is that you give yourself fully to practicing it, allowing it to evolve on its own. Eventually both methods will be useless and you will simply fall into what is here. The radiance of this moment will become so strong that there will only be that. Blessings, Kip"

Tape 5 (Continuation...)
And those who had near-death experiences and came back, they might have been lying on their death bed and could already see consciousness - see the people around them - they wanted to tell them, "Don't cry, this is beautiful." They had already encountered the other of death. Because if you look at it from the dissolving form, death is dreadful. Once the form has dissolved, death is an opening.

Silence and noise
Silence is a word that points to the endless, peaceful depth of the universe. In the dream of being a separate person, the mind appears noisy. It stays busy rehashing the past, arguing with what is happening now, and searching for some future moment. When you look within in an absolutely honest way for this "I" that is making this noise, all that is found is silent emptiness. There is no noisemaker. There is only the noise.
When the dualistic mind first hears that there is no separate self - that there is only this silent emptiness - it may continue making noise. Let that happen. Do you have a choice anyway?
This is not about stopping the noise. Only a thought within the noise would think of stopping the noise.
Look into the deep well of silence that is always and already here, both within the body and mind and without. This silence can never leave you because it is, at the most fundamental level, what you are. In this looking, the noise is seen to arise from and fall back into this silence.
When this silence is realized, you finally know exactly what you are - but you know that words can never truly express it. Nonetheless, words continue to arise from it. This is when there is no desire to stop the noise. There is a seeing that the noise is a perfect expression of silence.

Chapter 4
Fact: Consciousness is the Infinite Itself
(Continuation...)
There is nothing about Awareness that is finite. Awareness is infinite.
In-finite simply means not finite. The prefix in-means not, or no.
That means Awareness Itself has no finite limits, no measurement.
Now try another test. See if the finite form of this book, the body, or any other thing ever can leave that thing-and instead become true of the Awareness aware here, now. In other words, could the rectangular form of this book ever leave the book and become true of Awareness-so the book has no form and Awareness becomes rectangular? Impossible.

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion: Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"
The Presence Portal |
| | Michael Brown |
From PART V: 3. Why is it necessary to continue our breathing practice after Session 10?(Continuation...) Everything about The Presence Process is causal. This means nothing finishes when we complete Session 10. A great way to relate to our experience of this Process is to look at it through the eyes of a gardener. Our journey into and through this Process is about weeding the unkempt garden of our life experiences, about preparing new beds for planting, and cultivating the seedlings we choose to grow for ourselves. We feel wonderfully satisfied after achieving completion of the experiential part of the procedure. This is because we took good care to weed, prepare, and cultivate our garden. Yet the best is to come; the fruits and flowers of our labour are still to be revealed. To realize the potential and extent of this harvest requires consistent devotion to weeding, watering, and attending to the seedlings as they pear above the soil. As our plants grow into maturity there are the tasks of pruning, raking, and fertilizing. This is to be attended to before we arrive at the experience of picking the flowers and eating the harvest of juicy fruit. |

Chapter 87
Keep the Mind Silent And You Shall Discover
(Continuation...)
Q: If words have no reality in them why talk at all?
M: They serve their limited purpose of inter-personal communication. Words do not convey facts, they signal them. Once you are beyond the person, you need no words.
