How to Deal With Upheaval

"First, realize
that someone or something
is not making you feel this way.

You are feeling this way
out of a reaction
to what is happening.
Blaming only keeps
you unconscious.

Second,
be honest and
accept what you feel,
this is most important.

Don't try and create
"positive emotions."
This is just the ego
trying to impose something
it thinks should be here
on top of what is really here.

You have to really
allow yourself to feel
what is honestly here and accept it.

Perhaps at first what you feel
will go and you will find
a whole new set of thoughts
and feelings underneath it.

Such as if you feel angry
at someone for treating
you a certain way,

after allowing that anger
you may realize that
the anger was there
because you did not want
to accept the feelings
of rejection
and loneliness
that were really there.

So allow yourself to feel that,
without trying to change it,
get rid of it, figure it out,
understand it, even own it.

Just allow yourself to feel
what is here as sensation.

Accept that this is
what simply is
in this moment.

There is no doing involved
it is simply what is here.

If you do this,
you will instantly feel peace.
The moment you accept
and allow yourself to experience
even the first emotion,
there is peace.

And as you allow,
and feel what is here,
ultimately what you will find
that is here is sensation,
the sensation of energy moving,
and that is bliss,
that is love.

So you see
what you are really doing
through surrender and feeling
is moving beyond the mind,
moving beyond
the thinking and the emotions
to what is really here,
to what is here before
the mind labels it and judges it.

You will feel humbled
by what is here,
you will feel completely
vulnerable to what is here,

but in this way,
you awaken to peace,
you awaken to love;
not as something
that you try to do,
but you awaken to
what is always already here.

Then you will experience
everything as the same bliss.
You will feel the bliss in resentment,
the bliss in rejection,
the bliss in loneliness,
the bliss in happiness.
It is all the same bliss.

It is all the same flow
of energy.

It is simply a matter of
truly allowing yourself
to feel what is here
without trying to change it
in any way.

Blessings,

Kip"

Q:  One last thing, there's a lot of stories about enlightenment and the moment of enlightenment, which can become another trap. The experience here is that it's not a moment.

ET:  Thank-you, that's an important point.  I was very reluctant, it took me a long time to finally put that story of what happened to me in the book because then people have certain expectations.  Either they think it should happen that way to them or they, at least they expect some event suddenly to happen and in some cases it is.  But it's not for everybody it's been like that.  That suddenly an event happens after which everything shifts and nothing is the same.  A permanent shift in consciousness.  If you think its going to happen that way - it may or it may not, then you're going to wait for an event to happen to you in the future.  And that could prolong things considerably.  (laughter)  Because you're waiting for an even to happen to you.  And perhaps you've read some spectacular things some people experience fireworks, so to speak and they say it was glorious, glorious.  "Well, that hasn't happened to me" and you're waiting then for something.

Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment

Allow?

In these reflections or other pointers, you may hear words like, "allow thoughts and emotions to arise and fall."  But do you even have control in allowing thoughts and emotions to arise?  Allowing still implies control, doesn't it?  It implies that there is a person who has control over what arises.  Is that true?  When you see the word "allow" used in these reflections, the word is pointing to the natural and effortless noticing of what is already happening.  The word has nothing to do with personal will or effort.

Thoughts are arising.  Emotions are happening.  There can only be a seeing that this is already the case.

When you hear, "allow this situation to be as it is," what that really means is notice that this situation is already happening in exactly the way it is happening.

In that way, noticing is allowing life to be just as it is.  Even when there is no noticing, that inattention is also just happening.  Life is living itself, whether there is an awareness of what is happening or not.  In that seeing, seeking, resistance, and suffering end.  Yet if seeking, resistance, and suffering arise again, notice that these movements are also just happening beyond ëyour' control.  That is what is meant by the word "allow."

Chapter 12

FACT: CONSCIOUSNESS

IS WHAT THE PRESENT IS

(Continuation...)

Does it take effort before Consciousness is presently conscious?

Does any mental work have to be done to make Now be? The Present doesn't take years of study to attain-It can't be escaped!

Who is there that must try to become more aware of the Present- when there is no such separate one-but only the Present Self I Am? The beauty of My Omni-Present Awareness is that I cannot withhold any of Myself; nor do I have to make additional contact with Myself.

From PART V: 2.

(Continuation...)

An authentic facilitator cannot perform their service for money. On some level there is always an energy exchange, but their choice to function as a facilitator is not determined by monetary gain; it unfolds in spite of it. Being an authentic facilitator therefore cannot be a job or a profession; it is a calling, a way of being in the world.

Peace And Happiness Are Inherent In Consciousness

(Continuation...)

The current object is continually changing but the desire for Happiness always remains the same. Therefore, Happiness cannot be caused by the object that is present.

Likewise the experience of Happiness is always the same, irrespective of the object that seems to deliver it, so the object itself cannot be the aim of the search for Happiness.

'I am': The Foundation of all Experience

Q: You rely entirely on my awareness to take me over and not on the Guru and God.

M: God gives the body and the mind and the Guru shows the way to use them. But returning to the source is your own task.

From Above...

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above.)

Nisargadatta:  "In the meantime be satisfied with watching the flow of your life; if your watchfulness is deep and steady, ever turned towards the source, it will gradually move upstream till suddenly it becomes the source."

Jordan:  This is the same as Eckhart saying to sense your inner body.

+++++

Nisargadatta:  "Put your awareness to work, not your mind."

Jordan:  Peter Dziuban points to this in the form of 'noticing.'
