Freedom From Suffering

"Once the Shakti is
really awakened in you
and your attention
remains either
immersed in the Shakti,
in witnessing,
or in the feeling
of "I am,"

then everything will
come up for you.

Once you have let go
of all of the ways
and distractions
you have used
to escape this moment
and are fully committed
to being here,

then all of the
insanity will come out.

But if you allow it all to arise
without holding on to it,
without trying to get rid of it
dramatize it,
or identify with it,

then it automatically
burns away in shakti,
it burns away in consciousness.

It simply becomes a flow of energy;
the way the wind blows
through the trees.

The problems come in because
we place importance on what arises.

We grab hold of what arises
and then think we need
to do something about it,
we need to analyze it,
act it out,
heal it.

We grab hold of it
and at the same time
want to get rid of it
and thus the conflict begins.

Then it becomes an issue.
It becomes something real
something that haunts you,
that weighs you down.

So you can see with this
how the mind works.

A thought or emotion arises
and you grab hold of it,
make it important
and the drama begins.

You are suffering
because you carry your suffering
around with you.

But in any moment
you can let go of it
and that will be that.

There is no deep rooted
psychological cleansing
that needs to happen.

Consciousness itself
consumes what is here
and purifies it,
returns it
to its natural state of peace.

It does require you
to be present enough
to observe what is arising
out of this moment

and willing enough to let go of it,
willing enough to remain unattached
to whatever arises.

And in this
everything passes
in a flow of energy

and the clarity of consciousness
underneath it begins to expand
and radiate on its own accord.

Blessings,

Kip"

[ Form identity, to be trapped in form identity, on one level is to be trapped in a thought form identity, which I sometimes call the psychological form of me, the image, mind images connected with me and my story is one form identity.]

The other aspect of form identity is identification - identification means deriving a sense of self from identification with me and my physical body.  That is the physical form identity.

Exposing the seeking game

In playing the game of spiritual seeking, you believe that - through control, effort and practice - you will come to some later point of enlightenment, happiness, love, success, or contentment.  But the hidden gem in seeking is the opportunity to expose the seeking for what it truly is - a game of mind.

Instead of blindly following each movement of seeking, expose the game.  Allow awareness to see it without judgment.  See what is really happening.  The thought-based self is playing the game of looking for spirit in form (i.e., things).  Ordinary, everyday present awareness is already formless spirit.  The dream self is lost in a dream of temporary 'somethings' (i.e., temporary thoughts, feelings, ideas, religions, beliefs, states, experiences, jobs, relationships).  It goes from one something to the next something in search of spirit.

This is about the possibility of seeing that control, effort, practice, thoughts, feelings, ideas, religions, beliefs, states, experiences, jobs, and relationships are temporary ėsomethings' arising from the formless, changeless nothingness of spirit that is the source of all.

In exposing the seeking game, there is no more avoidance of present awareness.  No more escaping from the present experience to some fairytale experience in the future.  The possibility arises for seeing that, in the timeless presence that you really are, nothing is appearing as everything.  Spirit is manifesting as every form - every 'something' - including every false idea about future awakening.

Chapter 12

FACT: CONSCIOUSNESS

IS WHAT THE PRESENT IS

(Continuation...)

Consciousness and the Present are not two separate entities functioning simultaneously. They are but two different words for the One Unchanging Conscious Presence which is all there is of All There Is.

It cannot be overemphasized that the Present being spoken of is not just "the" Present or "a" Present. It is the conscious Present. The Present is this alive conscious Presence here and now alive to being all the Presence existent. This Conscious Presence never is something You can be conscious of, as if It were something separate, because You are Consciousness Itself. In the same way, You never can be conscious of the Present. You are the Present. To read as if this refers merely to "a" Present, as something apart from this Presently Alive Consciousness, will make this book seem like just so many dry, boring words. Be alive as the Present. It's the only place Your Life is.

NOW, as we grow into integrated adults, and as we increasingly value the place of emotional growth in our evolution, we can learn an immense amount from being in the presence of an authentic facilitator. Their greatest value is they are able, by their own example, to teach us how to facilitate ourselves into rediscovering our own untapped and unlimited potential. This is the gift they give us, for in the context of their own evolution, this is what they come into this world to give to themselves.

Peace And Happiness Are Inherent In Consciousness

(Continuation...)

[Time is the distance between two events and during these intervals there are no objects and therefore no events. If no objects are present there, no time is present there.]

This timeless non-experience cannot be remembered, in the same way that deep sleep cannot be remembered. No memory of this interval appears in Consciousness, because there was nothing present there apart from the transparent objectless presence of Consciousness itself.

Chapter 85

'I am': The Foundation of all Experience

(Continuation...)

Q: The 'I am' is the foundation of all experience. What you are trying to describe must also be an experience, limited and transitory. You speak of yourself as immutable. I hear the sound of the word, I remember its dictionary meaning, but the experience of being immutable I do not have. How can I break through the barrier and know personally, intimately, what it means to be immutable?

M: The word itself is the bridge. Remember it, think of it, explore it, go round it, look at it from all directions, dive into it with earnest perseverance: endure all delays and disappointments till suddenly the mind turns round, away from the word, towards the reality beyond the word.

It is like trying to find a person knowing his name only.

A day comes when your enquiries bring you to him and the name becomes reality.

Words are valuable, for between the word and its meaning there is a link and if one investigates the word assiduously, one crosses beyond the concept into the experience at the root of it.

As a matter of fact, such repeated attempts to go beyond the words is called meditation.

Sadhana is but a persistent attempt to cross over from the verbal to the non-verbal.

The task seems hopeless until suddenly all becomes clear and simple and so wonderfully easy.

But, as long as you are interested in your present way of living, you will shirk from the final leap into the unknown.
