Coming Undone

"One of the reasons
we sit to meditate
is to strip away
all of the things
that distract us
from this moment.

All of the things
that make us
feel secure
and in control.

That makes us
feel were are getting
somewhere,
we know something
and we are moving in
the right direction.

Because when
we take away
all the things and
all the ways
that empower
this "me"
that we have created
ourselves to be,

then what we are left with
is something that is not secure,
that is not in control.

Something that is not 'together,'
but broken and scattered
and afraid.

Even if you go beyond
the emotional, mental
and psychological,
there is still a sense
of separateness.

But if you can remain
present in all of it.
If you can surrender
to the point
where there is only
surrender left,
then all of this insanity
begins to burn away.

Or you could say
the sanity
and the insanity
are both burned away,
and then what is left
is stillness.

Not a stillness
that is opposite
of movement.

But the stillness
that exists
underneath
all movement,

that is realized
because the movement
is fully allowed
and witnessed.

You don't become
a better person
or a different person,
you simply become
your ordinary self
and at the same time
you have awakened to
the fathomless depth
of stillness
that goes with it.

The two cannot
be separated.

Blessings,

Kip"

Emotional Brain Training - This is something new to me that I think looks pretty good.  Seems like this fits in nicely with EMDR and mindfulness (nondual wisdom) and is definitely worth exploring.   I invite you to take a look at it.  If you have experience with this, I'd be interested.  Jordan

[Not only does the pain-body become transmuted through the attention also you become aware that around the emotional pain is a field of spaciousness....and the turbulence happens within that.]

It's much easier to sense that stillness that is there when you give attention to the rain.

Pain-bodies are a nosy phenomenon yet there's also stillness around it.

That's another...this is, of course, Presence.

Within the field of presence, there's the pain-body.

Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment
by Scott Kiloby by BookSurge Publishing
Paperback ~ release Date: 2009-08-10

To  Scott Kiloby

August 18th

The doer is a story of lack

The dream self is a doer that is doing things now to achieve other things later.  You believe that you must meditate to evoke relaxation or reach enlightenment.  You believe you must pray each morning so that God will give you or your loved ones a longer life, better relationships, more money, or a better living situation.  You go to spiritual teachers who will tell you how to become more present, surrendered, open, aware, loving, or awakened.

All of this doing assumes that you have control of your life.  The idea of personal choice/will creates the story of self in time.  The story goes, "I lack something now but if I do this particular thing, I will find wholeness later."  The story perpetuates the sense of lack.  It traps you into seeking future.

Instead of blindly doing things in order to bring about some later awakening, notice what is already being done.  Notice all the ways the doer is busy looking for a later moment.  This is not a suggestion to stop doing things.  It is an invitation to notice that all doing feeds into the story of self, which is a story that you lack something now but that the future will bring fulfillment.

Enlightenment is simply the realization that there is already enlightenment now under the story of the doer doing things to reach enlightenment.

Chapter 12

FACT: CONSCIOUSNESS

IS WHAT THE PRESENT IS

(Continuation...)

This Changeless Now that I Am is Myself being permanent OmniPresent-ness. This Now that I Am, is not the "human now," not an endless sequence of fleeting "present moments" extending in time.

There is no sequence of Nows ongoing in time.

There is only one Now, which is the One I Am.

Now never is what I Am conscious of.

Now is the Consciousness I Am.

From PART V: 2.

(Continuation...)

We are the teacher, priest, doctor, and life coach we are looking for. Our C.A.S.T. is our crew. Because of our conditioning and the time-based paradigm we are raised in, we may not yet know this. The Presence Process therefore seeks to give us a real experience of our own inner possibilities by showing us the power inherent in making internal adjustments as opposed to distracting ourselves with outer rearrangements. It does not encourage us to buy into yet another illusory outer power source; everything about it is causal, pointing us inward.

Chapter 84

Your Goal Is Your Guru

(Continuation...)

Q:  I feel that my hold on the body is so strong that I just cannot give up the idea that I am the body.  It will cling to me as long as the body lasts.  There are people who maintain that no realization is possible while alive and I feel inclined to agree with them.

M:  Before you agree or disagree, why not investigate the very idea of a body?  Does the mind appear in the body or the body in the mind?  Surely, there must be a mind to conceive the 'I-am-the-body' idea.  A body without a mind cannot be 'my body'.  'My body' is invariably absent when the mind is in abeyance.  It is also absent when the mind is deeply engaged in thoughts and feelings.  Once you realize that the body depends on the mind, and the mind on consciousness, and consciousness on awareness and not the other way round, your question about waiting for realization till you die is answered.  It is not that you must be free from 'I-am-the-body' idea first, and then realize the self.  It is definitely the other way round-you cling to the false because you do not know the true.  Earnestness, not perfection, is a precondition to self-realization.  Virtues and powers come with realization, not before.
