Coming Undone

"One of the reasons
we sit to meditate
is to strip away
all of the things
that distract us
from this moment.

All of the things
that make us
feel secure
and in control.

That makes us
feel were are getting
somewhere,
we know something
and we are moving in
the right direction.

Because when
we take away
all the things and
all the ways
that empower
this "me"
that we have created
ourselves to be,

then what we are left with
is something that is not secure,
that is not in control.

Something that is not 'together,'
but broken and scattered
and afraid.

Even if you go beyond
the emotional, mental
and psychological,
there is still a sense
of separateness.

But if you can remain
present in all of it.
If you can surrender
to the point
where there is only
surrender left,
then all of this insanity
begins to burn away.

Or you could say
the sanity
and the insanity
are both burned away,
and then what is left
is stillness.

Not a stillness
that is opposite
of movement.

But the stillness
that exists
underneath
all movement,

that is realized
because the movement
is fully allowed
and witnessed.

You don't become
a better person
or a different person,
you simply become
your ordinary self
and at the same time
you have awakened to
the fathomless depth
of stillness
that goes with it.

The two cannot
be separated.

Blessings,

Kip"

[The inner dialogue just became louder and louder, more hyper-active.  And finally he reached a point where he couldn't stand it anymore and then he entered surrender.  So that was there and that is here for you, of course, also.]

So, these things need to be known.  It's a very basic simple principle so you can watch when it happens.

If you don't know about pain-body you can meditate 10 hours a day.  I know people who have been to 15 or more Vipassana retreats, not that there is anything wrong with Vipassana, it's a beautiful medication.  But they've...and Vipassana retreats are long - I think 10 days or something like that - every day you mediate for something like 15 hours.  It's a boot camp for meditation. (laughter)  Sometimes it works beautifully.   But people do 15 of them and they go through the same unconsciousness as everybody else periodically.  But you've...haven't you observed yourself for so long?  The pain-body tricks them every time.

Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment

What's going to happen next?

Liberation is not knowing what is going to happen next.  Even in the dream of self you don't know what is going to happen next but, within that dream, a story of knowing is told.

Look more closely right now.  Sit there quietly in your chair after reading this reflection.  Watch an arm move or maybe a finger.  Notice your head turn.  Notice a thought arise or maybe a feeling.  Notice that "you" are not making these things happen any more than you are pumping blood, digesting food, or breathing.

Thought measures 'backwards' to say, "I was just thinking a minute ago," or "I am going to move my arm now."  But even that thought arises beyond your control.  Even if you are arguing with what is being said here, notice that the argument arose spontaneously and involuntarily.

In noticing that life is just happening spontaneously and involuntarily, there is also a noticing that you cannot know what is going to happen next until it is already happening.

The resistance to life as it is happening is suffering.  The recognition that life cannot happen in any other way than it is happening is liberation.  Liberation is not about doing anything.  It is about noticing what is already being done.  This is freedom from the false idea that you are doing.

Chapter 12

FACT: CONSCIOUSNESS

IS WHAT THE PRESENT IS

(Continuation...)

Try to change Consciousness from being present Now, and back It up to five days ago. Consciousness cannot vacate Now to be aware even five minutes ago.

On the same basis, is the Consciousness I Am ever actually aware five minutes from Now, in a future-in that which is not even present?

Consciousness is aware only Now, in the Present.

Fact: Consciousness Is What the Present Is

Consciousness is aware as the Present.

Consciousness, being all-inclusive of all there is, literally is the Present Itself.

The Present never is any time.

The Present is pure Consciousness, changelessly being.

Consciousness never vacates Now, the Present.

From PART V: 2.

(Continuation...)

Consequently, the reality we construct for ourselves now, is that in this world we perceive it as normal to hand the intimacies of our well-being over to be facilitated by others without question. We hand the hope of our souls over to our parents, teachers, priests, lecturers, doctors, nutritionists, astrologists, therapists, politicians, corporate leaders, movie stars, and anyone else with a suitably impressive resume. We assume because another studies books in an expensive institution with a fancy name they know more about what is better for us than we do. This is because in a time-based paradigm we assume information is knowledge. This is also because we contain no capacity for discernment; a side-effect of lacking felt-perception. We therefore turn ourselves over and outward to others instead of inward to ourselves. We have lost faith in ourselves, therefore we have lost faith.

Peace And Happiness Are Inherent In Consciousness

(Continuation...)

There are no objects present in deep sleep and therefore Peace cannot be dependent on objects. This in turn implies that Peace is independent of any of the states or conditions of the body, mind or world.

Consciousness is always present, not only in deep sleep but in the dreaming and waking states as well. As Peace is inherent in Consciousness, Peace must also be present at all times, under all conditions and in all states.

Chapter 84

Your Goal Is Your Guru

(Continuation...)

[M:  Compassion is the foundation of earnestness.  Compassion for yourself and others, born of suffering, your own and others.]

Q:  Must I suffer to be earnest?

M:  You need not, if you are sensitive and respond to the sorrows of others, as Buddha did.  But if you are callous and without pity, your own suffering will make you ask the inevitable questions.

From Above...

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above.)

Eckhart Tolle:  "But you've...haven't you observed yourself for so long?  The pain-body tricks them every time."

Jordan:  This is where EMDR is helpful and often amazing. Why?  Because it activates the mid-brain and allows it to store the 'pain-body' memories differently, from intrinsic to extrinsic.
