Power of Now

"It's very easy
to carry the past
around with you.

To think about what happened
yesterday
or a year ago
or 20 years ago.

To think
you could have done
something different
that would have
made things better.

Or link all of the memories
together into a story
and calling it 'me.'

But it's all nonsense.

What happened
even 20 seconds ago
has nothing to do
with what you are now.

From the perspective
of the mind
you are this person
that stretches back in time.
You are the sum
of all of your memories.

But this is only mental chatter.
It has nothing to do with
what you truly are.

Truly, meaning
not what you think yourself to be
but what is here beyond
all the thinking nonsense.

No matter
what you may think about it,
you are alive in this moment.

Yesterday is not alive;
yesterday is nonexistent.

Right now,
there is the undeniable
sense of life
beyond all the useless
definitions and descriptions.

Right now life is happening
and it is your choice
whether you are alive
in this moment
or you choose
to distract yourself
about endless
commentaries
of what happened before,
what might happen later
and what to call this moment
so the mind can understand it.

If you choose in this moment
to experience yourself alive
then you are radiance.

It is no easy task,
it requires your complete
attention
to remain here
on what is really
going on in this moment.

Not your ideas about
what is going on,
not your knowledge
of what it felt like 10 seconds ago
to be alive in this moment.

But right here;
living is happening,
life is happening.

Not for your body
or your mind
or any of that nonsense.

You allow all that to be
but you look past it.

Something much bigger,
life itself
in its totality
radiating
even exploding
in this moment
with such force
that it belittles
the mind,
belittles
the idea of this
self important 'you'
with all its problems
and desires.

Its not really about
getting a certain pleasure
or attainment
but being alive,
being willing enough
to truly feel life
happening in this moment
and remaining
alive,
remaining
attentive
to the direct experience
that life is happening
forever and ever
in this moment.

To remain immersed
in the source of life
that is lighting up
the whole show.

And if you even
think about it
you miss it.

If you know it
you miss it.

It is too simple
for understanding.

Too close to you
to even be seen.

You can only be
and recognize being,
which are really the
same thing.

You fully recognize
being in this moment
and there is no
room for anything else.

Consciousness
takes up the whole view.

Blessings,

Kip"

[That's enough, once you begin to see them there's no stopping the further arising of presence.]

It's enough to just begin to see how they operate in one's self (pain-body).

First you see it in others and then after awhile you see it also in yourself.

The seeing is freeing.

Ego usurping the search for enlightenment

After years of suffering and searching, you may come upon non-duality or enlightenment teachings that are pointing to the way out of suffering and searching. A burning for truth arises in you and takes hold.  You know that, whatever is pulling you in the direction of enlightenment is a force so strong, it must be followed.  Most spiritual seekers do not feel as though they have a choice.  There is a sense of being drawn towards an awakening.

Trust the force that is pulling you towards awakening.  But notice the ways in which the ego likes to usurp that force for its own gains.  The egoic drive can usurp the spiritual search and turn it into an addiction to the idea of future enlightenment.  You become like a dog chasing his own tail.  You constantly think about and discuss enlightenment, comparing one teaching to another, one idea to another, one teacher to another.  If this is happening, you can bet that you have created a new story of self out of the search for enlightenment.

Do not make that into a problem.  Simply notice when the mind is lost in thinking about enlightenment and how to get there.  When a simple, non-resistant openness arises within you to the sights, sounds, feelings, thoughts, and situations of the present moment, enlightenment is possible.  All else is ego.

FACT: THERE IS NOTHING GREATER THAN CONSCIOUSNESS

RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE CONSCIOUS.

(Continuation...)

Is Consciousness or the Self what God actually is? Don't just blindly agree because you may have heard so before. Please don't disagree, based on prior education about another kind of god.

If you hesitate about a Consciousness-God, what's the alternative- an unconscious god? Have you a fire-and-brimstone god on a throne, waiting to reward, or more likely punish, on judgment day? Suppose you right now came "face to face" with that god. What is the only way you would know it, and be certain of having arrived in "heaven"?

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion:  Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"

The Presence Portal

Michael Brown
Michael Brown

31. I am a heroine user attempting to resolve the cause of my addiction. Since starting the Process I have repeated nightmares about similar past life experiences. I am struggling with the fear these nightmares generate. THE PRESENCE PROCESS focuses on healing the child within us, but what about working with our past life traumas? What if the cause of addiction is not in this life?

(Continuation...)

Is this the legacy we intend to leave in our wake, or at our wake? Do we choose to awake? Do we care? Overcoming any addiction is about growing up and learning how to give ourselves what we seek from the substance, or the behavior, or from those around us. It is necessary to overcome the poor me victim mentality and the "f#*K you!" victor mentality. Neither have the capacity to lift us beyond our self-imposed perceptual confinement. This is not an easy journey, and commencing it does not necessarily cause us to feel good, but no other way exists, no other way but to learn how to take responsibility for loving ourselves.

What We Are, It Is

(Continuation...)

[It is because of this veiling power of mind and senses that some spiritual traditions have shunned the body and the world, seeing them as a dangerous realm of illusion that distracts attention from the oneness of Consciousness/Existence.]

However, although there is a place in the unfolding of understanding for this interpretation of mind and senses, because such a view enables us to stand back from their veiling power, it ultimately keeps the body and the world at a distance and therefore perpetuates the illusion of duality.

In fact the mind and senses do not actually divide Consciousness from Existence. They only appear to do so.

There is nothing illusory about the world. It is the separation between the Existence of the world and the presence of Consciousness, that is illusory. This illusion of a separate and independent Existence is created through mind and senses.

Chapter 83

The True Guru

(Continuation...)

Q:  You are telling me to live by memory?

M:  You are living by memory anyway.  I am merely asking you to replace the old memories by the memory of what I told you.  As you were acting on your old memories, act on the new one.  Don't be afraid.  For some time there is bound to be a conflict between the old and the new, but if you put yourself resolutely on the side of the new, the strife will soon come to an end and you will realize the effortless state of being oneself, of not being deceived by desires and fears born of illusion.
