Power of Now

"It's very easy
to carry the past
around with you.

To think about what happened
yesterday
or a year ago
or 20 years ago.

To think
you could have done
something different
that would have
made things better.

Or link all of the memories
together into a story
and calling it 'me.'

But it's all nonsense.

What happened
even 20 seconds ago
has nothing to do
with what you are now.

From the perspective
of the mind
you are this person
that stretches back in time.
You are the sum
of all of your memories.

But this is only mental chatter.
It has nothing to do with
what you truly are.

Truly, meaning
not what you think yourself to be
but what is here beyond
all the thinking nonsense.

No matter
what you may think about it,
you are alive in this moment.

Yesterday is not alive;
yesterday is nonexistent.

Right now,
there is the undeniable
sense of life
beyond all the useless
definitions and descriptions.

Right now life is happening
and it is your choice
whether you are alive
in this moment
or you choose
to distract yourself
about endless
commentaries
of what happened before,
what might happen later
and what to call this moment
so the mind can understand it.

If you choose in this moment
to experience yourself alive
then you are radiance.

It is no easy task,
it requires your complete
attention
to remain here
on what is really
going on in this moment.

Not your ideas about
what is going on,
not your knowledge
of what it felt like 10 seconds ago
to be alive in this moment.

But right here;
living is happening,
life is happening.

Not for your body
or your mind
or any of that nonsense.

You allow all that to be
but you look past it.

Something much bigger,
life itself
in its totality
radiating
even exploding
in this moment
with such force
that it belittles
the mind,
belittles
the idea of this
self important 'you'
with all its problems
and desires.

Its not really about
getting a certain pleasure
or attainment
but being alive,
being willing enough
to truly feel life
happening in this moment
and remaining
alive,
remaining
attentive
to the direct experience
that life is happening
forever and ever
in this moment.

To remain immersed
in the source of life
that is lighting up
the whole show.

And if you even
think about it
you miss it.

If you know it
you miss it.

It is too simple
for understanding.

Too close to you
to even be seen.

You can only be
and recognize being,
which are really the
same thing.

You fully recognize
being in this moment
and there is no
room for anything else.

Consciousness
takes up the whole view.

Blessings,

Kip"

[Personalizing.  Me.  Personalizing mind streams, personalizing emotions becomes a 'me.']

And so presence arises and suddenly you can see, so to speak, you step back from those patterns and you see them in operation.  That's enough, once you begin to see them there's no stopping the further arising of presence.

Being

"Being" is another word pointing to presence.  This is not about a person realizing being.  Being just is.  This is not about coming to a mental understanding of being.  Being just is.  This is not about a person doing something to reach being in the future.  Being cannot be found or lost.  Being just is.  This is a present recognition that you are life itself.

The person is just a story of a separate me that falsely believes it must do something to find some other separate thing called happiness, love, freedom, orwhateverone is seeking.  When that story is no longer fed, a natural and effortless being is realized.

In noticing the struggle to maintain pleasure and escape pain, see that the struggle arises directly from the me contraction.  That contraction is doing anything it can to run away from what is in this moment.  It is fighting, complaining, blaming, arguing with others, endlessly replaying the past, and searching into future.  All of that arises from the central illusory me contraction that believes it is a separate person who must somehow negotiate with something outside itself.  All unhappiness and discontent arises from the illusory separation between the subject me and some other object called "others," "life" or "my happiness."  As being is realized, that illusory separateness is seen through.  Being naturally contains the happiness, love, and freedom that is sought.

FACT: THERE IS NOTHING GREATER THAN CONSCIOUSNESS

RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE CONSCIOUS.

(Continuation...)

[But it is possible here and now-in fact essential-to speak from the standpoint of the Self, since It is the One being aware in the first place so any writing or reading can be done.

Would you prefer to be talked down to, patronized, as if not fully aware and intelligent?

For Your Self to enjoy Its freedom of simply being, without the frustration of trying to become isn't violating some law. On the contrary, only this is how Life actually functions. To not start here is to try to go against the way Life is already operating.

Does this all sound too good, too simple or absolute to be true? The Self never is too absolute for Itself, and there is no other. Why not let It determine what makes for good reading?

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion:  Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"

The Presence Portal

Michael Brown
Michael Brown

31. I am a heroine user attempting to resolve the cause of my addiction. Since starting the Process I have repeated nightmares about similar past life experiences. I am struggling with the fear these nightmares generate. THE PRESENCE PROCESS focuses on healing the child within us, but what about working with our past life traumas? What if the cause of addiction is not in this life?

When we entertain an addictive experience then our presence upon this earth is a needle in the veins of others.

What We Are, It Is

(Continuation...)

[This revelation is known as Happiness in relation to the body, Peace in relation to the mind and Beauty in relation to the world]

It is the mind and the senses that seem to separate the Oneness of Consciousness/Existence into two parts, into 'me' and 'other,' this and that, subject and object.

The mind and the senses are like a prism through which the Oneness of Consciousness/Existence appears to be refracted into 'ten thousand things.'

It is because of this veiling power of mind and senses that some spiritual traditions have shunned the body and the world, seeing them as a dangerous realm of illusion that distracts attention from the oneness of Consciousness/Existence.

Chapter 83

The True Guru

(Continuation...)

Q:  My mind is weak and vacillating.  I have neither the strength nor the tenacity for sadhana.  My case is hopeless.

M:  In a way, yours is a most hopeless case.  There is an alternative to sadhana, which is trust.  If you cannot have the conviction born from fruitful search, then take advantage of my discovery, which I am so eager to share with you.

I can see with the utmost clarity that you have never been, nor are, nor will be estranged from reality, that you are the fullness of perfection here and now and that nothing can deprive you of your heritage, of what you are.

You are in no way different from me, only you do not know it.

You do not know what you are and therefore you imagine yourself to be what you are not.  Hence desires and fear and overwhelming despair.  And meaningless activity in order to escape.

Just trust me and live by trusting me.  I shall not mislead you.  You are the Supreme Reality beyond the world and its creator, and beyond consciousness and its witness, beyond all assertions and denials.  Remember it, think of it, act on it.  Abandon all sense of separation, see yourself in all and act accordingly.

With action bliss will come and, with bliss, conviction.  After all, you doubt yourself because you are in sorrow.  Happiness, natural, spontaneous and lasting cannot be imagined.  Either it is there, or it is not.  Once you begin to experience the peace, love and happiness, which need no outer causes, all your doubts will dissolve.  Just catch hold of what I told you and live by it.

From Above...

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above

Eckhart Tolle:  "That's enough, once you begin to see them there's no stopping the further arising of presence."

Jordan:  I don't think that's enough - I think Eckhart is wrong about this.

+++++

Rupert Spira:  "The mind and the senses are like a prism through which the Oneness of Consciousness/Existence appears to be refracted into 'ten thousand things.'"

Jordan:  This seems clear and significant for some reason.
