Power of Now
"It's very easy to carry the past around with you.
To think about what happened yesterday or a year ago or 20 years ago. To think you could have done something different that would have made things better. Or link all of the memories together into a story and calling it 'me.'
But it's all nonsense. What happened even 20 seconds ago has nothing to do with what you are now. From the perspective of the mind you are this person that stretches back in time. You are the sum of all of your memories.
But this is only mental chatter. It has nothing to do with what you truly are.
Truly, meaning not what you think yourself to be but what is here beyond all the thinking nonsense. No matter what you may think about it, you are alive in this moment.
Yesterday is not alive; yesterday is nonexistent. Right now, there is the undeniable sense of life beyond all the useless definitions and descriptions.
Right now life is happening and it is your choice whether you are alive in this moment or you choose to distract yourself about endless commentaries of what happened before, what might happen later and what to call this moment so the mind can understand it.
If you choose in this moment to experience yourself alive then you are radiance.
It is no easy task, it requires your complete attention to remain here on what is really going on in this moment.
Not your ideas about what is going on, not your knowledge of what it felt like 10 seconds ago to be alive in this moment.
But right here; living is happening, life is happening.
Not for your body or your mind or any of that nonsense. You allow all that to be but you look past it.
Something much bigger, life itself in its totality radiating even exploding in this moment with such force that it belittles the mind, belittles the idea of this self important 'you' with all its problems and desires.
Its not really about getting a certain pleasure or attainment but being alive, being willing enough to truly feel life happening in this moment and remaining alive, remaining attentive to the direct experience that life is happening forever and ever in this moment. To remain immersed in the source of life that is lighting up the whole show. And if you even think about it you miss it.
If you know it you miss it.
It is too simple for understanding.
Too close to you to even be seen. You can only be and recognize being, which are really the same thing. You fully recognize being in this moment and there is no room for anything else.
Consciousness takes up the whole view. So, is it surprising when you look at human history how mad it is?
That is the human...and it's simple to see those workings of mind and emotion and identification with that.
Personalizing....Me...Personalizing mind streams, personalizing emotions becomes a 'me.'

Reflections of the One Life: Daily Pointers to Enlightenment by Scott Kiloby by BookSurge Publishing Paperback ~ release Date: 2009-08-10

July 17th You are not the doer of any action Within the story of time called "me," the past is who you think you are and the future is who you think you are going to become. But have you stopped to really see that past and future are merely thoughts arising now? Those thoughts are creating an illusory story in which you believe you are the doer of action. Through present awareness, it is realized that you are not pumping blood through your body, beating your heart, digesting food, or breathing air. You are also not ėdoing' thinking or ėdoing' emotions. All of this is spontaneously arising in this moment out of nowhere. In seeing the false self that lives in past and future and mistakenly believes that it is in control, awakening happens. It is realized that life is living itself through the body and mind. There is no separate "you" in control. Only thought creates the story that you are the doer of action. That story references backwards or forwards in time to take credit for actions that spontaneously arose. See that even those referencing-thoughts are spontaneously arising in present awareness. Notice that you are not doing the laundry, going to work, playing with your children, thinking or feeling. All of that arises spontaneously in this moment out of nowhere. Then notice something amazing. You are not noticing. Noticing is just happening. In this timeless seeing, liberation is available. |

FACT: THERE IS NOTHING GREATER THAN CONSCIOUSNESS
RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE CONSCIOUS.
(Continuation...)
Because this book speaks from the One Self, pure Consciousness, it may at first seem it's talking in circles and isn't leading anywhere. That's just it. The Self isn't leading anywhere. It's already at Itself. Frustration may try to creep in because it seems you're not making progress. That, too, is precisely the point! Your Self (the Awareness reading this now) isn't progressing to Itself because It already is Itself. In early chapters it may seem nothing is happening, and actually plenty is happening. By staying with pure Awareness-which is You-all false assumptions and everything "not-You" seems to fall away. It never was true of You.
These pages state clearly and simply how the Divine Self-unlimited Awareness, the Infinite Itself-never is afar off or separate, but is this present Consciousness that now enables these words to be read and have meaning. This very same Consciousness really is the only One to have written this book-because a body named Peter Francis Dziuban isn't the One Consciousness. Most emphatically, there is no personal author that assumes "he" is being the Self, or has a special "in" with God. But it is possible here and now-in fact essential-to speak from the standpoint of the Self, since It is the One being aware in the first place so any writing or reading can be done.

(Continuation...) When we entertain an addictive experience, we also emulate the behavior of the parasitic presences coming along for the ride; this means we too become a parasite in the lives of others. Of course we attempt to hide this fact by using negativity, criticism, cynicism, and judgement to shift attention away from us and onto the bad, bad world we live in. When we allow something to suck the life out of us, we are also sucking the life out of others around us. If we are intent on overcoming our addiction, it is necessary to look at our own parasitic behavior, acknowledge it, and seek sincerely to die to this way of being.

What We Are, It Is
(Continuation...)
[When we look at our experience of Consciousness and Existence we find that they are identical.]
This may seem like an abstract and complex line of reasoning that bears little relation to our day-to-day experience, but this realization of the identity of Consciousness and Existence is in fact a very common and familiar experience.
It is known as Happiness or Peace.
We could say that when the knowing of any object is relieved of its objective qualities, the identity of Consciousness and Existence is revealed. This revelation is known as Happiness in relation to the body, Peace in relation to the mind and Beauty in relation to the world.

Chapter 83
The True Guru
(Continuation...)
Q: Sir, I am a humble seeker, wandering from Guru to Guru in search of release. My mind is sick, burning with desire, frozen with fear. My days flit by, red with pain, grey with boredom. My age is advancing, my health is decaying, my future dark and frightening. At this rate I shall live in sorrow and die in despair. Is there any hope for me? Or have I come too late?
M: Nothing is wrong with you, but the ideas you have of yourself are altogether wrong. It is not you who desires, fears and suffers; it is the person built on the foundation of your body by circumstances and influences. You are not that person. This must be clearly established in your mind and never lost sight of. Normally, it needs a prolonged sadhana, years of austerities and meditation.
