(I'd like to offer a series of love poems for my Beloved Ramana.  Please note that I refer to Him variously as Ram, Rama. and Ramana, as He is an embodiment of Divine Consciousness, ultimately without a name at all.)

Impersonal Attention

 "If you close your eyes
and stop thinking
even for a second
you will discover all
that is here
is impersonal attention.

So a good meditation technique
is to keep your focus
on this impersonal attention.

Which is really saying
turn your attention
back upon itself
until you are clear enough
about attention
to simply rest
as impersonal attention.

If thoughts come,
you simply keep your focus
on this impersonal attention
that is the back drop
to all thinking.

You never allow your attention
to latch on to the thoughts
and leave this moment,
rather you remain steadfast
in attention itself.

Blessings,

Kip"

"In meditation
you are not moving
in a linear line
going from one
place to another.

Rather you are moving
deeper into this moment.

So the most important part
of meditation,
if you are practicing the path
of awareness
is to allow yourself
to rest in this moment.

To allow everything
to be exactly as it is
and relax into it
and sink right through it.

This sounds quite easy,
but when you are constantly
looking forward,
trying to attain something
trying to get somewhere,
then when you actually
try and rest in this moment,
you are confronted with something
that you want to escape.

It's like the closer you are
to no separation
you really feel
that sense of separation
the strongest.

When you are busy
looking forward in time
or backwards in time
then you have successfully
escaped fully feeling separation.

But the moment you give
up this linear movement
you are confronted
with what is here.

And then there is the need
for complete surrender,
to fully allow yourself
to sink into feeling
what is here.

To fully immerse yourself
into what is here
beyond the thoughts,
the emotions,
and the physical sensations.

There cannot be
any looking for it to be
a certain way.

You cannot look for there
to be a payout.

But the moment you give up
this constant urge to move
forward towards something,
and sink into this moment,

you are immersed in peace.

And then the practice
is to relax more and more
into the depth of consciousness
which exists outside of time.

To sink deeper and deeper
into the eternal stillness
of this moment
that lies beneath
all movement.

Blessings,

Kip"

Tape 5

[So, that's why the moment you're trapped in the vicious circle of pain-body and mind activity, it is a form - one could say - of addiction to pain...an addiction to emotional pain.]

In other words, in that moment you don't want to get out.   No way.  You don't want to be free because you're asleep, so to speak.  What is pretending to be you is a mental-emotional pattern with which you're completely identified.

Sensitivity is a gift

Sensitivity - if it merely results in egoic reactions that remain unconscious - is a source of suffering.  Reacting unconsciously to the hurtful things people say and do strengthens the mental and emotional story that believes it is separate from the "others" that are causing pain.  You may find it difficult to function in social situations if you are continuously hurt by what people say and do.

In the proper perspective, however, sensitivity is truly a gift.  Instead of creating suffering, sensitivity can be an alarm bell that alerts you to the presence of irritation, frustration, hurt, fear, and anger that arise in your inner body and mind in reaction to outer stimuli.  It is a tool that reveals the content of the story of self that separates you from the world "out there" and causes internal suffering.

Each time you are hurt emotionally and mentally by what someone says or does, notice that you are the awareness that sees the thought and emotion.  In this way, you begin to see where your psychological and emotional pain lies - what your deepest rooted story of self is.  In allowing sensitivity to make the story of self conscious, the story can no longer survive.  In that dissolution, you realize that suffering is never caused by the "others."  It arises from not seeing the story of separateness in the mind.

Our True Body

(Continuation...)

[It tells us that there is Consciousness, that whatever it is that is conscious, is present and aware, that it is witnessing or experiencing whatever it is that is being experienced.]

We refer to this Consciousness as 'I,' as 'me.' It is the subjective element in every experience. We do not know what that Consciousness is, but we know that it is.

What we are conscious of, does not tell us anything about the nature of Consciousness, other than that it is conscious and present, that it is. We know that it is present, that it has Being.

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion:  Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"

The Presence Portal

Michael Brown
Michael Brown

31. I am a heroine user attempting to resolve the cause of my addiction. Since starting the Process I have repeated nightmares about similar past life experiences. I am struggling with the fear these nightmares generate. THE PRESENCE PROCESS focuses on healing the child within us, but what about working with our past life traumas? What if the cause of addiction is not in this life?

(Continuation...)

The reason these fearful dreams of past life dramas surface into our awareness when we enter The Presence Process, and keep repeating, is because this energetic dysfunction is coming up now for resolution.

This is a beneficial indicator.

We are processing in our sleep because of the silence and stillness accessible in this state.

When a dream keeps repeating, it is because it is pointing to something significant, something crucial to our liberation from the present circumstances haunting us and driving us into our addictive experience.

Appendix II

 (Continued...

Nature has been using hyper-communication since the expansion of the first particle. Prehistoric humans were strongly connected to group consciousness, which meant information transported through wormholes was available to everyone. This is because the prehistoric person had DNA consisting of the twelve strands humans were originally designed with. Unfortunately, due to external influences, our vibrations have slowed down drastically. As a result we've lost ten strands. With their loss, the ability to hyper-communicate that was part of our multidimensional nature was almost completely wiped out, so that communication of this kind is now a rarity rather than a rule.

Our drastically reduced two-stranded DNA is a cause and reflection of our current dualistic reality.

Thought
Thought

How do we connect again and reclaim what we have lost? It's actually quite simple. In a state of relaxation,

with awareness of infinite

consciousness and love, we enter into reunion with All That Is. By this means, we can reactivate and integrate all the lost strands.

Chapter 82

Absolute Perfection is Here and Now.

(Continuation...)

Q:  Is there a state of absolute perfection which does not decay?

M:  Whatever has a beginning must have an end.  In the timeless all is perfect, here and now.

Q:  But shall we reach the timeless in due course?

M:  In due course we shall come back to the starting point.  Time cannot take us out of time, as space cannot take us out of space.  All you get by waiting is more waiting.  Absolute perfection is here and now, not in the future, near or far.  The secret is in action-here and now.  It is your behavior that blinds you to yourself.  Disregard whatever you think yourself to be and act as if you were absolutely perfect-whatever your idea of perfection may be.  All you need is courage.

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above

Eckhart Tolle:  "What is pretending to be you is a mental-emotional pattern with which you're completely identified."

Jordan:  I call these 'conditioned emotional patterns - they show up in EMDR processing quite regularly.  They are what are desensitized.
+++++

Nisargadatta:  "
Disregard whatever you think yourself to be and act as if you were absolutely perfect-whatever your idea of perfection may be."

Jordan:  This is called, "Acting As-If."  I've personally never had much success with that and I don't teach it to others.
