Love Poems

Flawless
(5/28/11)

By Ana Ram Callan

(I'd like to offer a series of love poems for my Beloved Ramana.  Please note that I refer to Him variously as Ram, Rama. and Ramana, as He is an embodiment of Divine Consciousness, ultimately without a name at all.)

Seeing Through the Mind

"If you observe
the process of identifying
with thoughts,
you will find that
there is a pleasure
in identifying with that thought.

And what I mean
by identifying
is you grab hold of that thought,
you make that thought you,
it becomes your identity.

So say a memory arises about
your mother
and immediately
you make that thought about you.

Instead of noticing
a thought just arouse
and letting it go,

you become involved with it,
you become involved
with the emotions,
memories and judgments
around it.

You become the person
in that story.

This is me, that's my Mom,
this is the story about my Mom
and me, how happy or sad
it makes me to remember this.

On and on it goes
all from a thought arising.

And in getting involved in that story,
a small amount of endorphins
are released.
You feel pleasure.

Every time you get involved
with a thought and turn it
into a story and make it about
you and your life,
there is a pleasure there.

And part of that pleasure
is that you are a someone
and someone special.

The sense of being an
individual self
is intoxicating to a certain
degree.

Otherwise,
why would you do it?

So what I want to point out
is in meditation
I am saying be aware
of thinking
instead of identifying,

yet there is a pleasure
there that you are giving up
in doing so.

If you are not identifying
with thinking,
then that sense of
being an individual person
is not there.

What is there,
what you are
is not definable,
it is not a solid something
with boundaries.

And so the pull is to
go back to that sense
of being an individual
with a story and a definition
and all the drama that goes
with it.

Because you do
get something out of it,
you do get a pleasure out of it.
It's like a security blanket.

Even in your most dramatic
emotions of sadness and loss
you get a hit off of it.

And I am not telling you
to stop it,
or give it up.

Just by being aware of this process,
being aware of how this whole
individual mind/self works
it begins to fall apart on
its own.

Simply through observation,
the whole self importance
of being an ego
begins to fall apart.

You stop romanticizing
this idea of 'me'
because the truth
of what is here
seems much more appealing
than the play
you have been caught up in.

Tape 5

[So you can see the reduction of one's aliveness, one's own depth, one's own reality when you live in a world of conceptualization, labeling, interpretation, predominately, it's still most humans do.]

Rarely do they step beyond, and those are moments that are so rare people say, "What was that that was so wonderful.  Ten years ago, something so wonderful."

"What was that, I was there and..." - you stepped out of labeling out of interpretations.

That is an interpretation of the mind, now, and you can see that is...what that does to you - now - what we call interpretation, when it is empowered by old pain.

The interpretation - old emotional pain - The interpretation becomes a reaction.

Effort

When you first begin your spiritual search, effort seems necessary.  There is a pull towards the truth that is completely natural.  You may find yourself going to bookstores to look for spiritual books, attending church and spiritual groups, going to meditation, doing yoga or engaging in some other spiritual practice or method.  There is nothing wrong with any of that.  It is all part of 'This.'

But this book is about the possibility of seeing that effort obscures the real truth of who you are - the loving peace and quietness that lies under all the effort and that is inherent in awareness.  When it is realized that awareness is what is looking, the whole movement of effort towards finding awareness is seen as futile.  Awareness is naturally effortless.  The movement of effort towards what is naturally effortless is seen as ridiculous.  It's like a fish swimming upstream to find water.

Our True Body

(Continuation...)

If Consciousness is likened to the space in this room and the mind, the body and the world are likened to the objects that appear within it, is it true to say that the chair, for instance, that we are sitting on is closer to the space in this room than the table?

Is the floor closer to the space than the ceiling?

That is absurd!

Excerpts From "Being Our Companion:  Exploring Self-Facilitation Through The Presence Process"

The Presence Portal

Michael Brown
Michael Brown

31. I am a heroine user attempting to resolve the cause of my addiction. Since starting the Process I have repeated nightmares about similar past life experiences. I am struggling with the fear these nightmares generate. THE PRESENCE PROCESS focuses on healing the child within us, but what about working with our past life traumas? What if the cause of addiction is not in this life?

(Continuation...)

This is why there is no blame for anything occurring during our childhood; no matter how horrid it is! Our interaction with our parents and siblings during this seven-year time period is the deliberate unfolding of a sacred agreement between us and them. Through their physical, mental, and emotional behavior around us, and our emotional reaction to this, we are imprinted emotionally with the polarized points of incompletion which we come to work with in this experience. It unfolds exactingly under the eye of the universal law of cause and effect. This is how our past possesses us in this life. When we birth our own children, we agree to do this for them too.

Chakra Purification Meditation

For this, we sit with our spine straight and our head in alignment with our body. Our breathing should be deep and full. As we chant the sound, we remember to open up to both the resonance of the voice and the vibration of the body where the chakra spins. Remain in silence for a minute or two between each chakra exercise.

The table below lists the seed sounds that access the elemental qualities of each chakra.

LAM for the Root Chakra

Curve the tip of your tongue up and back, placing it on the rear section of the upper palate to pronounce a sound like the word alum, without the initial "a."

VAM for the Naval Chakra:

Place your upper teeth on the inner section of your lower lip and begin with a breathy consonant to imitate the sound of a fast-moving car. Pronounce the mantra like "fvam."

RAM for the Solar Plexus Chakra

Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of the front section of your upper palate, roll the "r," and pronounce the mantra like the first part of the word rum-ble.

YAM for the Heart Chakra

Pronounce the sound like the word yum (as in yummy).

HAM for the Throat Chakra

Pronounce the word hum (as in humming); allow the breath to extend beyond the resolution of the consonant.

Thought
Thought

OM for the Third Eye Chakra

Pronounce the sound as a barely audible whisper, allowing the sound and breath to resonate in the cranial area.

AH for the Crown Chakra

Pronounce AH by forming the sound in the

rear of the palate.

Chapter 82

Absolute Perfection is Here and Now.

(Continuation...)

Q:  Why do I imagine at all.

M:  The light of consciousness passes through the film of memory and throws pictures on your brain.

Because of the deficient and disordered state of your brain, what you perceive is distorted and colored by feelings of like and dislike.

Make your thinking orderly and free from emotional overtones, and you will see people and things as they are, with clarity and charity.
