Love Poems

Flawless
(5/28/11)

By Ana Ram Callan

(I'd like to offer a series of love poems for my Beloved Ramana.  Please note that I refer to Him variously as Ram, Rama. and Ramana, as He is an embodiment of Divine Consciousness, ultimately without a name at all.)

To Realize Freedom

"Awareness itself
is always free.

If you are completely aware
in this moment,
watching what is arising
instead of being caught up
in what is arising,
then the experience is freedom.

Yet if you remain aware
without getting caught up,
at some point it will no longer
feel like freedom.

The urge to again attach
yourself and identify yourself
to what is here
is so strong
that eventually
it will overpower awareness
and again you will identify
with what is here in order
to release this build up
of pressure.

Many will simply
dip in and out
of awareness.

They will have a taste of awareness
and then go back to identification
and in this way,
the bliss of awareness
begins to flow over
into mind identification.

This is certainly one method.

Another method
is to consciously lengthen
that time of awareness
or even break out of that
urge to identify with thinking
all together.

Then there is the willingness
to do whatever it takes;
to commit yourself
to spiritual practice
and disciplines
which are conducive to awareness.

You really either fall in love
with awareness
or you are so desperate
to break out of mind identification
that you give yourself fully to the task.

And although outer things
get addressed like
diet, exercise, relinquishing
addictions, creating an enlightened
energetic environment around you,

there is an inner movement
that takes place:
The willingness to remain
firm in awareness
use whatever techniques
or non techniques
to break through that
urge to identify with the mind.

Or, through observation,
you pick that
mind identification mechanism apart piece by piece
until it breaks,
until you are released
into an unconditional awareness
that does not pull you back.

In this method
you most likely move beyond
the social aspect
of spirituality,
you go beyond the beliefs
and ideas of how it is supposed
to be and investigate for yourself
what really is true in this moment,
what really works for you
to fully awaken to freedom.

And what really works
maybe completely
different than what
you thought it would be.

You come out the other end
completely different
than who you thought you were
in the first place.

And that is magnificent,
that is true freedom.

To realize bliss
all ideas of who you think
you are and what you know
fly out the window.

Blessings,

Kip"

[then its much more difficult to get out of the thought because it won't remain this one thought immediately because of the emotional energy that has flown into that thought.

It will become, the energy, the relatively minor energy that was in that thought.

The relatively minor energy that was in that thought, just a little thought 'I can't take it anymore', now becomes,  'I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!'

Because the old emotion amplifies and energizes that thought and that immediately develops into a stream of similar thought....angry about other people....and on and on.

Peace

People claim to want peace.  They engage in spiritual methods, adopt belief systems, protest war, express opinions, join groups devoted to bringing inner or outer peace and take other actions to bring about peace in their lives or for the world.

Most efforts to bring about peace involve doing some action now in the hope that it will bring about peace at some future point.  Peace cannot be found in the future.  "Future" is just a presently arising thought.

The peace that is being pointed to here is so directly and immediately available that it is overlooked each time there is identification with thought, emotion, or some other finite form that is arising including the idea that you must do something now in order to find peace later.

Peace is rest and this rest is realized only in this moment in the direct recognition of present, formless awareness.  In that recognition, it is seen that every movement comes from that restful awareness and is not separate from it.  In that seeing, there is no longer identification with the movement.  Everything - every movement - is then allowed to be exactly as it is.

Our True Body

(Continuation...)

[What we call the body is in fact the experience of a sensation.]

We do not experience a sensation within a well-defined contour of skin. We experience a sensation within Consciousness and we experience a visual perception within Consciousness.

We can explore this further by imagining what it would be like to draw our actual experience of the body at any given moment, on a piece of paper. Would it look anything like the body we normally conceive? Would it not be a collection of minute, amorphous abstract marks, floating on the page, without a shape or a border?

30. Why do we only begin the water sessions in Session Seven?

(Continued...)

By the time we reach Session Seven, this energetic pathway is open so that, when induced, our attention re-enters the emotional body. We induce this re-entry by first submerging ourselves in warm water for 20 minutes, then attending to our regular breathing exercise. Normally, submerging ourselves in warm water for 20 minutes does not accomplish the reactivation of emotional body awareness to the extent it does in The Presence Process. This is because over a period of six weeks we are gently, in a focused and integrative manner, channelling our overall intention towards initiating this experience. This is the power of using a variety of tools custom-designed to orchestrate a deliberate channelling of our intent.

The Medicine of Meditation

(Continuation...)

Our true being pulses with the energy of love, which entails flowing with eternity. Once we understand this, there can never again be "problems" in our life because what remains after we cease our doing and relax into being is the emptiness of our One Self. At this point we experience ourselves being totally filled with life. Even when our external self is deeply engaged in doing something, on the inside we're simply being.

You Can't "Do" Meditation

WE CANNOT DO  -  something we have to be.

We don't need to escape from the world in meditation. Rather, to be in a meditative state is to en

gage One Self deeply in life and bring awareness to everything we think, do, and say. When all our mental activity ceases and we're just being, that's when meditation begins. In other words, meditation is a state of non-doing, silence, passivity, and receptivity. Meditation is doing nothing: it is no-thing-ness. This is why we cannot "do" it but only surrender to it.

Chapter 81

Root Cause of Fear

(Continuation...)

Q:  How shall I know that I am moving in the right direction?

M:  By your progress in intentness, in clarity and devotion to the task.

Q:  We, Europeans, find it difficult to keep quiet.  The world is too much with us.

M:  Oh, no, you are dreamers too.  We differ only in the contents of our dreams.  You are after perfection-in the future.  We are intent on finding it in the now.  The limited only is perfectible.  The unlimited is already perfect.  You are perfect, only you don't know it.  Learn to know yourself and you will discover wonders.

All you need is already within you, only you must approach your self with reverence and love.  Self-condemnation and self-distrust are grievous errors.  Your constant flight from pain and search for pleasure is a sign of love you bear for your self; all I plead with you is this: make love of your self perfect.  Deny yourself nothing-give your self infinity and eternity and discover that you do not need them; you are beyond.

From Above...

(Jordan highlights or comments on quotes from the teachings above

Eckhart Tolle:  "Because the old emotion amplifies and energizes that thought and that immediately develops into a stream of similar thought....angry about other people....and on and on."

Jordan:  The EMDR model would say that the thought and or feeling activated the 'mal-adaptive' neuro network.  A little more scientific but the same idea.

Rupert Spira:  "We do not experience a sensation within a well-defined contour of skin."

Jordan:  That's true.  Feelings and sensations hover in and around the body.
