The Obesity Society has several open positions for Council and the Nominating Committee. Nominees must be Fellows or Regular Members of The Obesity Society in good standing. North American and International residents are eligible for office.
There are four vacancies on Council.
Councilors serve in an advisory role, having targeted duties for the functioning of the Society. Councilors' portfolio includes oversight of and reporting on the activities of assigned committees, sections, and task forces. Office term for Councilors is three years.
Vice-President - Member of the Executive Committee, who subsequently serves as President-elect, President and Immediate Past President (4 year commitment)
Council with Portfolio: Advocacy/Public Affairs - Responsible for: Advocacy Committee and Public Affairs Committee
Council with Portfolio: At-Large - Responsible for: Diversity Committee, Obesity and Cancer Section, and Pediatric Obesity Section
Council with Portfolio: At-Large Canada - Responsible for: Diversity Section and Early-Career Investigator Committee
Please see the current list of Council Members along with their terms as a reference. Please note, Patrick O'Neil will become Immediate Past President, Harvey Grill will become President, Steven Smith will become President-Elect and Jennifer Lovejoy's term on Council will be complete. The following Councilors will rotate off this year (Rebecca Puhl, Alison Field, and Diane Finegood).
There are two vacancies on the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is responsible for developing the slate of candidates for vacant positions on Council. The term is two years.
