Verifying OHS Compliance

Ensuring Workplace Health and Safety is a dynamic and sometimes daunting process. Being able to verify steps taken to meet obligations is critical. Below are some key health and safety obligations and a few ideas for how to go about meeting these and achieving a safer workplace.

Ensuring safe systems of work - This is your documentation for example OHS Management System, safety plan, job safety analysis', work method statements, work instructions.

Providing Supervision - This is about performance management. Monitor worker behaviour and deal with those workers that are not meeting the established safety standards. Importantly, keep detailed records.

Providing a safe workplace - Use a variety of audit tools and keep records of workplace checks.

Providing Instruction and Training - This is induction and ongoing training. Training records verify that your workers have attended and understood any training attended.
