All you will need to do is figure out where the picture was taken, and then send an email to Centennial@TorranceCA.Gov with your best guess. WALKING TOUR OF OLD TORRANCE

MEET AT THE TORRANCE HISTORICAL SOCIETY & MUSEUM

The Torrance Historical Society invites you to join them this Sunday, June 26, for a Walking Tour of historic Old Torrance. It's FREE, FUN, and FULL of history! And . . . with 2012 being the City's Centennial year, there is no time like the present to learn about the past - especially in Torrance.
This docent-led tour begins at the Torrance Historical Museum (1345 Post Avenue) at 1:30 PM, and will point out the historic landmarks of Downtown Torrance including:
- Torrance Public Library, 1936-1978
- Nativity Church, 1939
- Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co., 1928 -1953 (now the Red Car Brewery & Restaurant)
- Torrance City Hall, 1936 -1956
- Torrance High School - this was the first property in Torrance to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places, U.S. Department of the Interior, 1983.

The City of Torrance Community Services Department invites the public to stop in for Fun In The Sun at Alta Loma Park from 12:30-2:30 p.m. where staff will offer a variety of innovative group based outdoor games designed to stimulate and challenge participants. The Fun In The Sun program is free. This program is non-custodial, where children can come and go as they please. Come to the George Nakano Theatre and learn how the creator of the Oz stories claimed that he 'only wrote to please children and to generate an income for his family'. But in 1912, Baum published a new fantasy work that vividly explored a world torn between two visions, one negative and violent and the other bright and hopeful. While Baum may have been writing about contemporary conditions in America, he may also have been envisioning the kind of world future generations would have to choose. Read more . . .
