St. Francis of Assisi School Newsletter
Home of the Wolves
May 30, 2012

Dear St. Francis Families,
In all my years in education I have never witnessed a teacher appreciation week like the one I experienced last week! It was an amazing show of gratitude by parents toward their children's teachers and the school staff.
On a daily basis I observe examples of dedication and passion displayed by teachers and staff as they work to form our students academically, personally, and spiritually. It is a daunting task to understand and address multiple learning styles, meet individual needs, and bring out the best in each student while simultaneously working with parents and administrators.
I am gratified to see St. Francis parents recognize the great work of our teachers through such an incredible display of generosity. I know that I speak for the entire staff when I say thank you for your thoughtful and generous outpouring of support. A special thanks to Laurie Warye Schoenke, who chaired the Teacher Appreciation Week committee, and the many parents who gave of their time, talent and treasure to make the this a very special week!
St. Francis parents are the best!
Blessings,
Tom Waszak Principal |

Parent Satisfaction Survey
|
In an effort to help us improve and better serve our families, we ask for your help to complete an online "parent satisfaction" survey. The survey should take 5-10 minutes to complete depending on your comments to the optional free response questions. This is your chance to tell us in your own words how we are doing. The more we know from you, the better we can serve your child. Grade level responses will be shared with teachers and the aggregate results with the faculty and parents next fall.

Carline Reminder of the Week

ALL pedestrians must use the crosswalk during car line hours. Please do not walk between the cars during car line. We want to teach the children the right way, by example!

Campus Ministry is sponsoring our annual Pink Cow fundraiser. Don't forget your $2.00 for a Pink Cow (vanilla ice cream with strawberry soda) or a Brown Cow (root beer float). Enjoy this delicious treat on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Proceeds will go St. Joseph Primary School in Uganda. Fr. Josephat Ddungu, who visited our school in previous years, and who has built and expanded this school. The cost to educate one child for a year at St. Joseph's is only $100.00. Through your generous donations we hope to help many children realize their dream of a Catholic education.

8th grade jackets need to be ordered very soon. Vicki Marsha was on campus last week and had students try on jackets for size. If your student was unable to try on jackets or you would like to confirm their size, all sample size jackets are in the school office. You may bring your student in and try them on for size and then order by mail, phone, or email. Jackets will be in the school office until the end of school, June 15. Please call the office if you have any questions.

A Big Thank you for Teacher Appreciation Week
|
St. Francis of Assisi School would like to thank Mrs. Wayre Schoenke with her amazing creativity and organization and all of our parents for a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week. The amount of planning, time, talent and treasure that goes into this week is overwhelming. From decorated doors, flowers, treats and continual feasting you made us feel like Kings and Queens! The week was filled with amazing surprises and capped with a duty free day, delicious luncheon and prizes for all. Thank you for your kindness and generosity, and most importantly for your continued support.

July 4th St. Francis Booth Fundraiser
|
The City of Yorba Linda has offered St. Francis the option to have a 15' x 10' booth at the big annual Fourth of July Celebration for FREE. The upside is the school can raise money by offering food or prizes, and generate marketing awareness. The downside is that it would involve some St. Francis volunteers to work the booth on the Fourth of July --- most likely in 2-3 hour shifts. Are you interested and should we do this? If the answer is "YES" please send an email to Mark Maricich at mark@maricich.com.
