Dear St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School families,
During this season of thanksgiving we take time with our families to give thanks for our many blessings. At school I do the same - I think about all those in our community who give generously and sincerely to make our "village" a safe, nurturing, and positive place for our students to grow and develop their God given talents. Santa's Secret Shop is Here

We are excited to announce that St. Francis of Assisi School will have its second "Santa's Secret Shop" running all this week. Our shop will be open from 9:30am to 3:30pm every day except on Friday when will we close at 12pm. Fun Services ® is providing us with many different gift items to sell during this event which include sports memorabilia, faith related gifts, tool kits, and jewelry - there is something for everyone! Our SFA Children will have the opportunity to purchase moderately priced gifts for the entire family - including their pets - for Christmas. There will be over 100 items that range from .25 cents to $15.00. The money from this fundraiser will used for purchasing outside playground equipment and funding for programs for our Pre-K children. Please support this special event and help us invest in the program of our future "Little Lambs".

Computer Lab Open for ALEKS-Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
|
In an effort to support our new, online supplemental math computer program ALEKS in grades 3-8, we will be opening the computer lab on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:30p.m.
Students will have supervision, and this will be on a fist come, first serve basis for the first few weeks. If we find demand exceeds seats available, we will establish a sign up list in advance. If a student attends Day Care, he or she must sign in to Day Care and then let the supervisors know he/she will be working on ALEKS in the computer lab. Students not attending day care should be picked up from the computer lab at 3:30. Day Care students will be walked back to class.

Holy Childhood Advent Program
|
The Holy Childhood Advent Program helps children prepare for Christmas by teaching them how to make the season more meaningful by offering prayers and sacrifices for children in the Developing World who await the "Good News" of Jesus. Please have your student try to sacrifice some of his/her own allowance or money doing extra chores around the house in order to fill their Holy Childhood donation box. Boxes were sent home last week and need to be returned to school on or before December 12th.
Thank you for encouraging your child to participate in this worthy cause.

Yearbook Needs Your Pictures
|
Have you snapped a great picture this year that you can share? Did you take any pictures at any of our school masses or at summer school? We would love for you to share them with the yearbook editor. The process is simple. Just visit St. Francis' page on the Josten's website to upload pictures. Your creative spirit can be reflected in the pages of the 2011-2012 yearbook. Thank you in advance for your help.

Don't you love getting into a warm bed on a chilly night? Unfortunately, some people are living on the streets and do not have this luxury. To help them out, Campus Ministry is supporting Mary's Kitchen by collecting adult-sized new or gently used blankets. These will be distributed on Christmas Day to those less fortunate and in need of a warm blanket. Please send all blankets, adult-sized, new or gently used, to the 6B or 8B classroom. Thank you for your generosity in supporting this worthy cause.

Annual SFA Toy Drive
|
SFA Student Council is hosting their annual Toy Drive this Advent Season. All donations go to Catholic Charities of Orange County. We are asking each student of SFA to bring in a wrapped gift for a child of their same age and gender. (ie---a six-year-old girl should bring in a gift intended for a six-year-old girl). Please mark a tag with the age/gender of the gift. Student Council thanks you for your help with this project.

Caught Being Good
|
For the fourth year at St. Francis, we are recognizing good student behavior through the Caught Being Good program. Modeling Christ-like behavior, helping another student or simply being good gives students the opportunity to receive a Caught Being Good ticket. Teachers and administration may "catch" students being good, and students submit their tickets to be drawn at random and recognized with a prize and their names over the announcements.
Congratulations to last week's winners:
