St. Francis of Assisi School Newsletter
Home of the Wolves!
October 12, 2011
|
Dear St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School families,
Eighth grade parents, students, and teachers are gearing up for the high school admissions process. All parents should pay attention to this message even if your child is not in 8th grade. Selecting a school for your child is a very important decision and the impact of the decision increases at each level, elementary - middle - high school and college. It is never too early to learn about what options are available and what the best fit is for your child.

|
Our school is proud to present the In-N-Out Burger Lunch Tour Program. 75% of ticket sales will go towards Academic Decathlon to help with uniforms, equipment, books, activities, etc. The remaining 25% will go to help In-N-Out's charity foundation to assist abused children in need. Your participation in this YUMMY event will help our St. Francis community as well as those in need in our surrounding communities.
The tour bus will be coming November 16th to serve burgers, so buy tickets for you and the whole family to make it a family fun filled day! Tickets are only $4.00 for a burger, soft drink, and chips. Remember there is no hot lunch provided on November 16th - so purchase your burger lunches and view the flyer for more information. Orders are due by November 2nd.

Ice Cream Sales for Academic Decathlon
|
How would you like to cool off in this heat?
Or even let your taste buds perk up with a treat?
If you are looking for a way to do both with a smile,
Then an ice cream or two is worthwhile.
There is no reason to not enjoy dessert.
It's like having frozen yogurt.
When you see your friends with ice cream,
Don't sit by and daydream.
You'd think it cost a lot to stay cool.
Whoever told you that is cruel.
A dollar is all you'd need,
For ice cream indeed.

SFA Sports Tournament
|
St. Francis of Assisi School is sponsoring a "B" Football Tournament on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23. Eight schools will be participating in our tournament. In order for this to be a successful event, we will need your help collecting money at the entrance gate, helping in the snack bar and working the down marker during the games.
If you are interested in helping with our "B" tournament for your volunteer hours there will be a sign up sheet in the school office starting the first of October. Your student does not need to be playing to help. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Handy.

St. Francis Mass Opportunity
|
St. Francis is in need of some helping hands at the school masses. If you are interested in helping, please consider being a sacristan for our school. This would not only entail set up before mass, but also appropriate clean up after mass in the sacristy. Even volunteering for one mass would be helpful if you cannot commit to once a month.

Caught Being Good
|
For the fourth year at St. Francis, we are recognizing good student behavior through the Caught Being Good program. Modeling Christ-like behavior, helping another student, or simply being good gives students the opportunity to receive a Caught Being Good ticket. Teachers and administration may "catch" students being good, and students submit their tickets to be drawn at random and recognized with a prize and their names over the announcements.
Congratulations to last week's winners:
Kailee Avina
Sheila Martins
Alexis Medina
Ryan Mescher
Emma Silva
