As you all know the first major event of the year is our own Annual Golf Tournament, this year we have added a twist! The event will consist of a Golf Tournament by day and Casino Night, Awards and Dinner in the evening. We are all very excited for the event and we believe that everyone will have a fantastic time. The Golf Tournament will take place at Black Gold Golf Course on Friday October 21st at 1:00 and then be followed by the Casino Night, Awards and Dinner in the same location. Dear St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School families,
Welcome to the new look of the St. Francis e-newsletter. The weekly newsletter will be emailed to all St. Francis families on Wednesdays. Our goal is to use the newsletter to inform the school community about school news and activities taking place at St. Francis. Another new addition is the St. Francis of Assisi School blog. Our blog will be filled with stories about academic and extra-curricular activities as well as interesting and exciting news about students and staff. Thank you parents and students for a great opening of school! It is a challenge remembering everyone's name but I was energized by all the smiling faces!
Thank you Fr. Sy, Fr. Mike, and Fr. Seamus for joining me as we welcomed students and parents return to school on Monday morning. In particular, I would like to thank Fr. Sy for preparing an excellent homily. Fr. Sy shared a wonderful message with the students about having the courage to do the right thing and expecting others to do the same.

Back To School Night Is Coming!

Parents, we look forward to meeting you at St. Francis of Assisi's annual Back to School Night. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher(s) and hear about their goals and expectation for the year. Back to School Night meetings are held on the following evenings:
Tuesday September 6
6:00pm - 6:45pm Back to School Night for Kindergarten
6:45pm - 7:30pm Back to School Night for 7th grade
7:30pm - 8:15pm Back to School Night for 8th grade
Note: Back to school night is for parents/guardians

Love God, Love Your Friends, and Have Courage

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School is off to a wonderful new year! After being welcomed into their classrooms, students had the opportunity to watch the morning prayers and announcements being broadcast through the televisions and SMART Boards across campus. This is an old tradition that has been brought back this year much to the delight of our not so camera shy student council.

General Parent Meeting

Hold this date! Please plan on attending the opening General Parent Meeting on Thursday, September 15 at 7:00pm - 8:30pm. The meeting will take place in the St. Clare Center Coffee will be available at 6:30 pm so come early and get reacquainted with old friends.

ITBS Testing
| |
Saint Francis of Assisi School will take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills from Monday, September 26, 2011 to Monday, October 32011. All students in the Diocese of Orange will be taking these tests as one diagnostic tool to help design direct instruction to meet the needs of all of our students.

School Pictures
| |
School Pictures will be taken Thursday, September 8, 2011 in the St. Clare Center by Cantrell Photography. All students will be wearing their school uniforms for pictures. Please look at the packet choices for purchase sent home the first day of school to make your choice prior to picture day.

Fee Based After School Spanish is Coming to SFA

Join our after school enrichment Spanish classes at St. Francis of Assisi School. Sra. Coulson, our 7th and 8th grade Spanish teacher, will be conducting the after school program for 16 weeks every Tuesday from 2:50-3:50 on campus.

Sports Update
| |
Volleyball and football tryouts for the 2011-2012 school year are going well. Teams will be decided by Thursday, September 1st and practices will start next week (9/5-9/9). All players will receive a practice schedule. Both the football and volleyball season with begin the week of September 21st.
