"I thank God for the staff and doctors at Crossroad."
Melissa grew up receiving pediatric care from the same physician in Western Hills as her mother. As an adult, she continued taking her three children to this same doctor. When Melissa was pregnant with twins in 2009, the doctor told her that he was retiring and transferring his practice to Crossroad Pediatrics West. Disappointed and wary of the change, Melissa talked to Jeanette, the receptionist, who reassured her that she would be staying and working for Crossroad. Knowing that there were very few options for Medicaid patients on the west side, Jeanette encouraged her to stay and give Crossroad a chance. "The staff seemed friendly, and I really had no other choice," says Melissa.

At first, Melissa was concerned because the Crossroad staff seemed to take longer than she was used to spending at the doctor's office. As it turns out, Crossroad was providing her children with more comprehensive services. Melissa's children had never been screened for lead. One daughter was found to have an extremely high level of lead. Melissa gladly reports, "Christy's fine now but had they not found she had lead, she could be having serious problems."
Melissa's newborn twins, born prematurely, have several serious chronic conditions as does her oldest daughter. Because of Crossroad's care and support, Melissa is better able to deal with the stress of her children's health problems.
Melissa's attitude toward Crossroad has changed drastically since that day when she learned her pediatrician was retiring. "I thank God for the staff and doctors at Crossroad. They really care and have really made a difference and helped me a lot beyond providing medical care." Now when Melissa brings her children to Crossroad, she greets our staff as if they are part of her extended family.

Dr. Rahner - "Best Doctor" For the second year in a row, Crossroad Health Center's Medical Director, Dr. Dave Rahner, has been selected to Cincy Magazine's Best Doctors list. Physicians are included in the Best Doctors list based on the result of an extensive, confidential peer-review process. Doctors complete ballots on other doctors in their specialties as well as related specialties. They answer one question: "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?" "Being selected to the Best Doctors list is more of a reflection on Crossroad, our entire team and our ministry than it is on me," says Dr. Rahner. The Best Doctors list will be published in the December 2011 issue of Cincy Magazine. Look for Dr. Rahner's name under "family medicine". |
