garage saleFREE DAY: Thursday, September 6

For those who do not want to participate in the garage sale, but still may want to get rid of items, please put items at the end of your driveway with a "FREE" sign. If they don't disappear on the 6th, they may during the garage sale.

GARAGE SALE:

Friday and Saturday, September 7-8,

8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Community garage sales attract more buyers. Let someone else use the items you no longer want. Anne Dresser Kocur will sponsor the garage sale through signage, newspaper and internet advertising.

To participate, please write down your name, address and e-mail address and drop it off along with an optional donation payable to HG HOA on or before Saturday, September 1 to the home of Paula Johnson at 7717 S. Cherry Court. Proceeds benefit Heritage Greens Swim and Tennis.

If you wish to donate any remaining unsold items to charity, please e-mail recycle@heritagegreens.org on or before Saturday, September 1 so that a pick up can be scheduled. Please put "garage sale" in the subject line.

The Heritage Greens Community Garage Sale is sponsored by Anne Dresser Kocur, Fuller Sotheby's International Realty. Call Anne with questions at 303-229-6464. Thank you for your participation in this community event.

Yard Signs

A reminder about yard signs from your HOA Board.  Only "for sale" or "for rent" signs are permitted by the Covenants.  Contractor signs are not permitted.  Political signs less than six square feet in size are permitted by state law but may ONLY be displayed 45 days prior to an election, and have to be removed seven days after an election. So, political signs are not yet permitted, and need to be removed to avoid the receipt of a notice/fine.

Second Annual Electronics Recycling Event

Saturday, August 4, 7-10 a.m.

Heritage Greens Pool Parking lot

What: Drop off your old electronics to be recycled. Items to bring include but are not limited to: computers (monitors, keyboards, hard drives, etc), camcorders, DVD players, radios, remote controls, stereos, VCRs, copiers, printers, cell phones, answering machines and much more.

Cost: A small fee of $5 per computer monitor or $10 per television will be collected by Luminous Recycling.

Why: We need your help to keep harmful electronic waste out of our landfills. Electronics contain toxic pollutants such as lead, mercury and cadmium among others. Electronics that are dumped in the trash often end up in landfills, where these substances can leach into the groundwater and soil. Research estimates that electronic waste accounts for 80 percent of American's toxic garbage and is growing exponentially. Join us in making a positive impact by dropping off your unwanted electronics and help keep our community beautiful.

Special Thanks to Tim Morton of Luminous Recycling for helping us set this up.

Neighbors and Nonprofits - The Tanner Seebaum Foundation

The Seebaum family would like to thank our Heritage Greens neighbors for their continued support of our family and invite you to our annual fundraiser and pool party.

As many neighbors know, Tanner has been diagnosed with another brain tumor and his health is worsening, but he is determined to be in attendance to make this year's party the best one yet!

Please join us for this family friendly event. The Tanner Seebaum Foundation's 5th Annual Splash Bash! The event will be held on Saturday, August 18 from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. at the Glenmoor Country Club. $35 for a single teen, $50 for a single adult or $150 for the family.

For Splash Bash information and registration please visit
www.tannersfoundation.org and click on Splash Bash at the top. For more information on how Tanner is doing please visit www.mylifeline.org/tannerseebaum.

The goal of The Tanner Seebaum Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is to raise funds to help researchers find the cause and the cure for pediatric Ependymoma Brain Tumors. Most of our dollars support researchers at Children's Hospital Colorado right here in Denver, not because it is closest, but because the doctors at Children's are experts in this area and are internationally known for their work.
We look forward to seeing you on August 18th!

Sincerely,

The Seebaum Family and Foundation Board

Gators Swim Team - Did You Live in HG in 1981?

Then you could have been on the Heritage Greens Gator Swim Team. We had the honor of recognizing Al Bevilaqua, the founder of Gator Swim Team, at the Gator Awards Night last month and we'd like to give a special thank you to ALL of the volunteers, coaches and swimmers' that have kept the Gators Spirit going strong for 32 years!

Coach Nate with 6 and Under Boys and Girls
Our 2012 swimmers continued the swim team tradition of hard work with a lot of neighborhood fun mixed in. Five mornings a week they were in our beautiful pool running through the coaches workouts with the culmination of great dual meets on Saturdays. We won three or our five dual meets this year! Then at finals our 6 and Under Boys and Girls were our Division Champions, the 7-8 Boys were Division Champions and the team brought home third place in our division. Very impressive and we have more trophies to add to the pool trophy case. If you haven't seen our kids' race, you really should consider coming to a meet next summer.
Our coaches in Peter Pan costumes for finals

We would like to send a neighborhood wide thank you to our wonderful coaches this year: Cate McPherson, Chad Fesler, Silas Getz, Nate Kiszla and Chris McCoy. We were so happy with the way they worked together and with the children to help improve their swimming abilities while keeping the fun atmosphere that should be part of a summer swim team.

On Awards Night we presented The Gator Greatness Award to 12 deserving swim team members. This award is given to a boy and girl from each age group who consistently showed to the coaches that they would go above and beyond for the team. This year we changed the name of the award to make the meaning of Gator Greatness a more tangible. The award is now called the Sydney Award for Gator Greatness to honor the memory of Sydney Schmeling. Sydney won the award in the past and her positive attitude and determination throughout her illness can be an inspiration to our kids for years to come.

the Sydney Award for Gator Greatness

Finally we would like to thank Amy Walker Kurtz for her excellent leadership these past two years. She brought to the job a wonderful balance of competitive swim knowledge and commitment to our philosophy of summer fun for the kids. We don't need to say we'll miss her because she's already committed to volunteer swim team positions for next year.

Our new incoming parent representative is Holly Malcolm. I'm certain that she will be a great asset to the team and I look forward to working with her.

That's our wrap-up of this 2012 summer swim team season. We hope to see all of our Gators back in the pool next year as well as lots of new kids.

Thank you for the great season!

Sue Carothers

Tennis

As the first half of the league season winds down, many congratulations to the three HG teams that made it to flight playoffs!  We had a women's 3.0 and 3.5 team and a men's 3.5 team qualify. League tennis in HG has grow dramatically over the last 5-6 years and it is fun to see the success that has come from that.

Good luck to all the teams playing in the second half of the season.
