President's Letter
| |
Greetings!, It was great to see some new faces at the January board meeting along with a number of seasoned veterans. In addition to our regular agenda, we also discussed the goals and objectives of the 2012 HG HOA Board. It was a great and lively discussion and I truly appreciated everyone's thoughts and input.
Since the board's most ambitious project in many years was completed last year, our fabulous pool and community facility, the focus this year will be on fine tuning the community room usage and reservation policy, updating the current list of approved roofing materials, developing a new website, and defining and planning a number of social events for the neighborhood during the calendar year.
I would like to thank all of the volunteers of the HOA. We couldn't do it without your help. Their names and emails will always be to the left of this letter. If you have ideas to share or want to help, please feel free to contact our volunteers directly. I am also attachin g a list of volunteers for 2012-13 for your reference. Again, I encourage everyone who would like to assist or provide input on any of these topics, or others of individual importance, to join us at the next board meeting on Wednesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. in our community room, or drop us an email.
Regards,
Tracy Anderson

Swim Team News
| | |
The 2012 swimming season planning is well underway.
The coaching staff is all in place and we're pleased to announce they are all Heritage Greens Gator Swim Team alumnae! We have two returning coaches. We are excited to announce that Cate McPherson will be our Head Coach and that Chad Fesler will be returning with all of their great Gator coaching experience. Silas Getz, Chris McCoy and Nate Kiszla have all signed on as Gator coaches. If you're familiar with our swim team from years past you will recognize those last names. We're thrilled that these young men have elected to follow in their siblings footsteps as coaches. We are working with our coaching team to develop a set of expectations that we believe will build on the success of the past and take our Gator team to new level. Our coaching team is committed to planning workouts, implementing strategies to improve our children's swimming abilities, and helping every swimmer achieve their swimming goals while making the Gator Swim Team the best part of their summer!
For registration this year, we will again be using our online system. There will be details and instructions in the HG March Newsletter and at the team website http://heritagegreens.rmsl.org. Registration will begin in early April.
We are working now to confirm all of the committee head positions. Thank you to those of you who have already committed for the 2012 season. These roles are essential to running our team. If you would like to help, please contact Amy or Sue.
Our Gator Pre-Team was a great success last year and we will be offering it again this year. The Pre-Team allows an opportunity for kids who are not quite ready for swim competition to develop their swimming skills and participate in the fun of the neighborhood swim team. The goal of the program is to prepare kids to move up to the competition team by the following season or within the season if they are ready. The pre-team swimmers will enjoy all of the fun of being a Gator, but will participate in customized practices and will not be expected to compete in meets. More information on the Pre-team can be found on the team website.
We know many of you are already planning your summer activities. We would like to share with you some of the key dates for the swim season. We will have dual meets all of the five Saturdays in June. We will do our fun meet prior to the season - probably on the Saturday of Memorial day weekend. Prelims will be the week of July 9 with finals on July 14. The awards ceremony will also be on the 14th. After school practice will begin May 14 and then move to the morning once school is out the following week. As in the past, we will offer afternoon practice for those swimmers that are not on the Littleton Public Schools schedule. Age group practice times will remain the same. A more detailed schedule will be available at registration.
We are looking forward to a fun and exciting summer with all of you. Please reach out to Sue or Amy with any questions or ideas.
Go Gators!

Sydney Jane Schmeling
| |
Sydney Jane Schmeling was granted her angel wings on January 12, 2012, following her battle with a rare form of brain cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family who loved her beyond words.
Sydney's life would seem too short to many, but those touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which you live it. Her vibrant smile could melt the hearts of those around her. Her beautiful eyes reflected her passion for life and her mischievous spirit.
During her illness she possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a gift and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She was passionate about art and created beautiful drawings, paintings and clay sculptures left behind for us to cherish.
Sydney Schmeling Memorial Fund
To honor Sydney's life and loves, donations to the Sydney Schmeling Memorial Fund will be used to create a memorial fountain/garden in the places she loved the most: Lois Lenski Elementary School and the Heritage Greens community area. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at any Wells Fargo Bank in the U.S. made out to the Sydney Schmeling Memorial Fund, or mailed to:

A Note from the Family

Recycle Tips
|
| |

We had a great first year as a Sustainability Committee. We tried to organize events that address the 3 R's: REduce - REuse - REcycle and Educate. Our first electronic recycling day was a huge success. Many of you took advantage of the Free Day to rid yourself of items you no longer wanted. We collected many pounds of towels to give to the Denver Rescue Mission. Because we are all so fortunate - the small things we do have huge consequences for others. Thanks for taking the time to do your part.
REcycle: Please shovel your sidewalks in a timely manner. When you shovel put the snow on your lawn or under your trees. They will appreciate the extra moisture.
REduce: Start a new year's resolution and reduce the amount of toxic items in our landfill. Make a bin in your garage for old chemicals and toxic items. Then arrange with SEMSWA to have pick-up. Phone: 800.449.7587. Small fee.
REuse: We will again have the electronic recycling day in August. The annual Free Day will be the day before the neighborhood garage sale. We will be collecting all types of glasses - prescription/non/sun. We will collect towels during the summer time. Be looking for information in the future.
Ideas: Do you have an organization that can use items that we could collect? - let us know at recycle@heritagegreens.org. |
