President's Message
| | |
Greetings!
Happy Holidays!
I want to start this final President's letter by thanking the past and current HOA Board members for all of their hard work and dedication to the Heritage Greens neighborhood. Furthermore, as you are well aware, the common area remodel project required a lot of hard work, commitment and time from many current and past HOA Board members, from the Metro District Board members and countless neighborhood volunteers. I would love to thank each of you for your devotion and efforts however there are too many of you to thank in this one letter. Thanks to everyone!
I do feel I need to offer a personal thanks to Marty Smith for inviting me over to happy hour one evening several years back. At least I suppose I should be thanking her... She somehow coerced me into joining the HOA Board while at the same time she was coming back to the Board for her second tenure. Thank you Marty for bringing me along on this adventure and we appreciate you coming back for "seconds". Nonetheless I have really enjoyed my residency on the HOA Board as Social committee, Grounds committee, Vice President and President. I highly recommend you consider volunteering for the HOA Board or one of its committees. The benefit and impact you can provide to the neighborhood is significant and everlasting.
I look forward to the change in HOA Board Executives and I trust they will continue to fruitfully serve Heritage Greens and its residents. Good luck gents and ladies and keep up the good work!
Don't forget to attend the 2011 Heritage Greens Annual HOA Board meeting on December 14th to be held at the Heritage Greens Swim and Tennis Community Room. Social hour with appetizers and cocktails starts at 6 pm and the formal meeting commences at 7 pm.
Trash pick-up on Christmas and New Year's Day - with both holidays occurring on Sundays, WM will be closed the following Mondays. Service for will be delayed by one day both weeks. If you are interested in renting the HG Community Room for a private event please contact rental@heritagegreens.org. Cheers, Chip Zodrow Heritage Greens HOA President |

24th Annual Inner City Christmas Party
|
| |
The youth at St. Thomas More Parish want to thank the residents of Heritage Greens for their generous support in the past years. Your support makes it possible to hold this event for 4 and 5-year-olds from Denver Public Schools.
On December 8, hundreds of young children will come to St. Thomas More for a day of celebration and fun. The children will enjoy a puppet show, face painting, food, a magic show, balloon animals, coloring, playing, and, of course, a visit and gift from Santa Claus.
In the past, Heritage Greens has been a generous sponsor to help with the cost of putting on such an event. Food, entertainment, supplies and gifts (approximately $25 for each child) need to be purchased or donated. Remember, for many of these children, this will be one of the few gifts they will receive. Any donation you could make would be appreciated. Please mail your tax-deductible check, payable to St. Thomas More Church, to 8035 S. Quebec St., Centennial, Colorado 80112, attention David Tschumper.
The party is December 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in McClellan Hall. If you would like to come and help the teenagers of STM, make cookies, or serve lunch, please contact David Tschumper in the Youth Ministry Office at youth@stthomasmore.org. If you have any further questions, please call Shari Lamb, a HG resident, at 303-740-7897.

Recycle Tips
|
| |

RECYCLE: Good news - add Batteries Plus to your list for a place to recycle CFL bulbs and non-alkaline batteries And don't forget to take the time to recycle your Christmas tree. Go to Recycleyourchristmastree.com for the most current locations.
REDUCE: Just an FYI - Batteries Plus is having an unbelievable sale on those CFL bulbs. If you wish to reduce your electric consumption - this is the time.
REUSE: On the weekend of Dec. 9-11, we are collecting prescription and non-prescription glasses and sunglasses. Hanging on the gate to the pool will be a large, plastic sack that says "EyeGlasses" - just drop them off and we will get them to the organizations that provide free glasses to those in need. You can truly change someone's life.
Additional Holiday Tips from Waste Management:
- Scrap your traditional paper party invitations and go digital! Online evites are often free, and help cut back on the four billion trees forested each year for paper products.
- Create a holiday menu that utilizes food with recyclable or zero packaging/wrappings.
- Use tableware and cloth napkins that can be washed and used again.
- Party decorations? Go without or decorate your affair with fresh flowers and evergreen trimmings that can be composted.
- Skip the plastic tablecloths and use washable, reusable or recyclable paper tablecloths to cover tables.
- Leftovers? Use recyclable items such as aluminum to store any party leftovers. Aluminum can be crumpled up and thrown into the recycling bin.
