Georgia Clay
Behind the Scenes
 with Clay Wieczorek

Clay is a proud 2001 graduate of St. Anne-Pacelli School.  While at PHS he was active in YoungLife and lettered in both football and tennis.  He didn't play music very much while in high school as most of his time was focused on sports.  After graduating, Clay attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA for two years majoring in Business.  In 2003 he felt called to pursue a career in music and moved to Nashville where he graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor of Music.

Clay, under the name "Georgia Clay,"  has since written many songs and played in numerous acts as both lead singer and guitar player.  He has released two recordings to-date and promotes his own material. Why the stage name 'Georgia Clay'?  He states he is proud of his last name but felt it might be a complicated stage name, so in honor of his home state, he now goes by "Georgia Clay."

While proud of Clay's musical accomplishments, his mother, Susan C. Wieczorek, is also brags about his call to help others.  "Clay is a habitater," says Susan, "he builds Habitat homes for impoverished persons.  He even cancelled a birthday trip once so that he could help build a house."

She also recalls, "In August of 2005, Clay called me. He told me God was calling him to help with Hurricane Katrina.  I told him he should heed the call."  Clay left Belmont, bought a back pack and a tent, and lived in a field in the Ninth Ward, the hardest hit section of New Orleans.  He helped people to tarp their homes and find their belongings.  When he returned, Susan says, "his music had a different flavor to it."

One of Clay's favorite high school memories was of the annual annual Brookstone-Pacelli battle for the jug.  The Vikings did not prevail in his senior year, but ever the optimist, Clay vowed "if I can't take them on the field, I will take their women!"  He claims he dated every senior girl at Brookstone that year!

You can contact Clay through his Facebook page and listen to his music at itunes or youtube.
