Thanks to grades 6, 7 & 8 for taking care of our Native Plant Garden in the Talbert Nature Preserve.  This garden is a collaboration on the lower section of the bluffs with our new friends, OC Parks, which was created in November 2010.  Our students worked there the first day after break to plant 5 new Sycamore Trees and a truck full of California native plants.  They also watered, created mulch from dried leaves and secured the watering bowls around existing plantings.  Sue Stoffel, our OC Parks specialist, is enthusiastic about the survival rate of the plants and the biodiversity that has been created there.

Teamwork and muscle was required to remove this plant from its container.  

The Boys and the Girls High School Basketball Teams got to play at the Staples Center over the winter break.  Thanks to everyone who came to cheer them on in their battles against the Spirit Academy.  Both games were fantastic to watch, even though the Spirit Academy put more baskets into the net.  Most of the fans stayed to watch the Clippers vs. Lakers, which turned out to be a super exciting game.  What an opportunity for our students!

 January 11 and 18  

Wool basket, supplies, yarn darning needle and tubing. We have a small supply of yarn please bring any odd balls of yarn you have hanging around, we will supply the tubing there may be a small supply fee.

 January 25 and February 1  

These dolls are a little different from the sweater dolls we have made in the past, The dolls head will be formed with an eye line but not as detailed as a Waldorf doll.

 Sweaters to be used can be made from any material, cotton, valor or wool and don't need to be boiled. We have the doll skin, hair and stuffing.

February 8  

This week we will work on a Valentine project, felted hearts, needle felted then wet felted. We have all the supplies needed.

 February 15 and 29  

Basketry working with cane, the basket will be round in a spoke configuration. This will be an outside project so hopefully the weather will co-operate.

A small fee and sign up is necessary, we need to purchase supplies.

 March 7  

Flower fairies, these fairies are made from felt and will be free standing, this is a sewing project. We have all the supplies.

 March 14  

Batiking, we need warm weather for this project, normally

 Batiking uses bees wax, come and learn a different method. There

maybe a supply fee for silk and paints,
