As you are all aware, earlier this month, Japan was hit by the largest earthquake in their history. As a result of the quake and resulting 26 foot tsunami, half a million people have been left homeless. Most are elderly or children. The scope of the damage along with the on- going radiation threat from the two crippled nuclear power plants means that there is no telling when they can return, if at all.
The WSOC community has stepped up to help! Our Japanese relief committee initiated a drive to get corporate donations of sleeping bags and other such items for transport to Japan. These simple gifts will make life in public shelter a little more bearable for the victims of disaster. I am very touched and encouraged by so many who have expressed their support. This community's thoughts, prayer and donations will comfort those who are suffering. When Masami Sensei returns, students will make WSOC prayer flags for the shelter we are helping.
If you can, please help us help those people who have lost their homes.
Thank you for your kindness.

Move-A-Thon
Sponsor Needed:
Do you have a connection with a gym or a fitness or health organization? We are seeking a sponsor for this year's Move-a-Thon. It's a nice opportunity to support health and fitness and promote themselves within our community. Please contact Denise Ogawa if you know anyone. Thanks.
Prize Incentives Needed:
We are looking for the donation of possible prize incentives for this year's Move-a-Thon. Examples might be a new skateboard, bike, pair of roller skates, you get the idea. Does anyone have a connection to someone who might be able to help us out with this? Please contact Denise Ogawa in the office. Thanks.
