2nd Annual WSOC Golf Tournament
Monday, March 28, 2011

You don't have to be a scratch golfer to experience the WSOC Golf Tournament! Golfers of all levels played last year and had a great time, while supporting our school.  Please plan to enjoy an amazing day of golf at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, followed by dinner and an auction under the stars, similar to the event last year. If golfing isn't your sport, but shopping is, you can join us for the auction and dinner.

WSOC is incredibly grateful to CIGNA for their very generous support, as the title sponsor of this event.   CIGNA's support is making a huge difference in the success of this fundraiser.  Thank you, CIGNA!

Bring in Green Cuttings!

Every year, we ask our families to gather winter greens to decorate our campus for the Winter Festival as well as for our advent spirals. Stopping by the tree trimming lots is the easiest way to help!

Most lots are happy to let you help yourself to their cuttings. Bring all greens behind the grade 7 classroom, you can use the dirt road to access the fence.  Thank you!

 Elves Workshop

BRING IN YOUR FINISHED ITEMS BY THURSDAY to the front office! There are still a few kits left for you speedy workers out there. Christine kindly requests that all items be turned in BEFORE the end of the week so she can do inventory before the festival on Saturday. THANK YOU!!!

Support Our School with Annual Giving

THANK YOU!  So many of you have jumped right in with amazing generosity, in the spirit of supporting our school.

You should have received information in the mail regarding the importance of supporting our school with 100% participation.  We are tracking participation by class for the Classroom Challenge and will be building a display so you can check on your class' progress.

Look for the display after Winter Break.

Grade 6 Brings Holiday Cheer

Our 6th grade orchestra visited a senior-citizen community center at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church this past Tuesday.  They played a series of lovely holiday carols as the senior center residents sang along to familiar tunes.  Our friends at St. John were so looking forward to the visit, they prepared lunch and treats to share with the students, which they very much enjoyed.

Seven Kernels of Wisdom

Many of us were privileged to attend Dr. Susan Johnson's lectures the weekend of October 15 and 16. For those of you who were not able to attend, the Care Group thought it would be valuable to the community as a whole to have an opportunity to review "The Seven Essential Nutrients for a Health Child and a Healthy Family" that Dr. Johnson presented. While incredibly simple and basic, it is amazing how attention to these principles positively affects your child's relationship with the world and his or her success in school.  Seven Kernels of Wisdom Article

High School Basketball Game Win

Hugh's notes from the basketball game last Friday:
Last night was awesome! The freshmen won in a close game. All of the freshman fought hard and pulled out a win. Spencer started the game off with three 3pointers in a row! The girls' team played excellently given that they had not practiced even once together, but I think it motivated them to come to practice and get better. We have a lot of talent on this team and with a little practice they could become a force to be reckoned with.
we held on for the win. Excellent game! It's what playing basketball is all about! Of course, we need to work on some things in practice so that we are better prepared next time but our guys showed poise in a crucial situation to win that game.

The Varsity took the W in a nail-biter. The team we faced was big but our guys showed a lot of heart, determination, and courage to take this one. Long story short, down by 1 Jeremy hit a pull up 3 pointer with 1.8 secs to go, and we held on for the win. Excellent Game!
