A wedding day is traditionally a time for couples to celebrate a new stage in their life together. However, many people don't realize that your special day can also be a wonderful opportunity to help improve the lives of those in need. Hector Hernandez, a Captain 1 at LAFD Fire Station 85 and his fiancée Anne Buchanan, VP of Human Resources for BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, have chosen to do just that for their upcoming nuptials. In lieu of wedding gifts, they've asked their family and friends to donate to the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund in their name. Check out their whole story.
Who knew helping out could be so delicious? Since 2005, the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commerce has been hosting a yearly pancake breakfast at one of their local fire stations. It began as a way of bringing the community together, but it soon developed into much more. Read about the event, which takes place this year on May 12 at Fire Station 86, and how they help Widows & Orphans.

It's almost here! The Famous Dave's Pig Out to Pay Out event is March 28. During the fundraiser, participating Famous Dave's locations donate 20% of all sales of their amazing BBQ to Widows & Orphans. You can help now by handing out this flyer and spreading the word in your community and, of course, enjoying some awesome ribs.
