A&D Medical Introduces new Telemedicine Blood Pressure Monitor
for Extra Large Arms

Latest estimates state that obesity is impacting 400 million people worldwide.

This population also trends toward having high blood pressure. For this reason A&D Medical has developed a device that meets the specific needs of this patient population. The new UA-789PC Telemedicine Blood Pressure Monitor for Extra Large Arms is designed to provide the bariatric market with a monitor that is accurate and comfortable to use.


To obtain an accurate blood pressure reading, it is important to use the correct cuff size. A cuff that is too small will result in a higher than expected reading and a cuff that is too large will result in a lower than expected reading. The A&D Medical UA-789PC Blood Pressure Monitor for Extra Large Arms has a cuff that has been designed to support people with arm sizes of between 16.5 inches and 23.6 inches (42 to 60 cm). The cuffs contoured design was developed by testing various models on a variety of patients to determine the most effective form factor. There is currently no other cuff solution specifically designed for the bariatric patient on the market today.

Features of the UA-789PC
The UA-789PC blood pressure monitor for extra large arms is designed to:
  • UA-789PCAccommodate remote patients with an arm size of up to 23.6 inches (60 cm)
  • Support both real-time communications to immediately send measurements to an information hub and batch-mode communication to send up to 280 measurements with time and date in a single request command
  • Use the A&D Medical adapter cable that allow the UA-789PC 9-pin serial port, USB, or Continua Health Alliance USB connectivity
  • With Irregular Heartbeat Detection™, which provides blood pressure and pulse rate measurement even when an Irregular Heartbeat occurs and includes a flag of the occurrence in the measurement data
  • Include an enhanced pump and exhaust system to provide for quick inflation and deflation for increased patient comfort during measurement

The UA-789PC is a highly cost-effective vehicle for disease management programs, especially those supporting the bariatric patient base. System integrators can provide units to remote patients or patients lacking mobility enabling clinical care providers to monitor these patients at home.
