Validation, it's critical
|
The BHS maintains a thorough list of recommended clinical and home use blood pressure monitors on their website.
The devices they list have all been clinically validated. This means
that all of these devices, regardless of their cost, give reliable
readings when used correctly. Every blood pressure monitors listed
undergoes rigourous testing according to the revised BHS protocol
(1993) and/or the international protocol and/or the AAMI Protocol, that
have met the BHS criteria. To meet these criteria, devices must achieve
a minimum B grade for both systolic and diastolic measurements. All
validations are conducted in a clinical environment by medical staff.
All testing is closely monitored for accuracy and lack of bias. The
process insures blood pressure monitors deliver results that are
comparable to those produced by mercury sphygmomanometers. A&D
Medical submits all of its devices for this crucial testing, those
results are shown at the
BHS website and on
dabl Education Trust.
