The Sower Faithfully Spreading the Good News | September, 2010 |
|
Greetings in Christ Jesus! I hope and pray all is going well for you. Summer officially ended this week and the fall is now here.
Teen Mission has some exciting things planned for the fall.
In October, we will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Mission Journeys and the 40th Anniversary of Teen Mission, USA, with some special events (see more info below).
Earlier this week on Wednesday, September 22, our good friend and one of God's special servants, Kendell Johnson, passed away.
Kendell was part of our 1st-ever Mission Journey team in 1985 (to Haiti). He fell in love with Haiti, married a Haitian lady (Yvrose) and later returned as a full-time missionary.
Over the past four years, TM has been working in Haiti with Kendell & Yvrose Johnson (pictured right) and the Dufailly Christian Mission/Church.
In 2004, Kendell and Yvrose established a Christian Church in the village of Dufailly, located about 40 miles from Port-au-Prince. Chuck Perry led a Mission Journey team that helped in the construction of a new block building for the church in 2008. In 2009, a Christian school was started there in village. Next month, 100 children will go to school there.
Teen Mission plans to continue working with Yvrose and help keep the mission work in Dufailly going.
Visitation will be at the Rolan Taylor Funeral Home (289 S Main St) in Winchester, KY, from 1:00-2:20 pm on Saturday, September 25th. Kendell's funeral will be held at the Macedonia Christian Church (Lexington, KY) at 3 pm on Saturday, September 25th.
Please continue to pray for Kendell's family and all us on the TM team. THANKS again and may God continue to bless!

Mission Journeys - 25th Anniversary Celebration (October 22-23, 2010)
Pack Meals for HAITI We're looking for 200 volunteers to pack 50,000 meals for people in Haiti in four 2-hour sessions on Friday, Oct 22nd and Saturday, Oct 23rd. We'll be packing specially formulated, fast-cooking, rice-based meals that provide a child with about 75% of the daily nutrients needed for a healthy diet. These meals will go to churches we work with in Port-au-Prince and a Christian school TM helped start in the village of Dufailly.
Enjoy Great FELLOWSHIP Many past Mission Journey participants will be in attendance. Along with mission trip reunions, there will be praise, worship and inspiring speakers.
Meet MISSIONARIES Some of our mission partners will be on hand. Come hear their great stories of what God has done and is doing in their lives! You can pray for them and even arrange a mission trip to work with them in 2011.
FOOD and LODGING provided During the event, 3 meals will be provided for participants: Supper on Friday, Oct 22, plus Breakfast & Lunch on Saturday, Oct 23.
Overnight housing on Friday, Oct 22, will be provided at the following location:
Gardenside Christian Church

COST
We're asking for a minimum donation of $50 for each volunteer. This will help us cover the cost of the food, shipping costs to Haiti and for us to house and feed the volunteers. Volunteers may personally donate the funds or raise the funds through friends, family and co-workers. |
