Teen Mission responds to Flooding Disasters.

How can you help?

Greetings!

Over the past weekend, Central Kentucky and the surrounding region received record rainfall causing major flooding.

I received a call yesterday (5/4) from a dear friend, Bill Teegarden. Bill preaches at Farmers Christian Church, a few miles outside of Morehead, KY.
Bill says they had 4-5 feet of water in the church basement and considerable damage to their new activities building. Several homes in the community were also damaged.
He asked if Teen Mission could possibly organize some work teams to help in any way. We plan to do so.

Bobby Cairell at Blue Grass Christian Camp tells of the recent flooding at the camp:
"The recent substantial rainfall has caused the creek to flood once again here at camp. Many have called or emailed already to check on us, and the concern is appreciated. Though the creek did rise significantly and did get into the basement of the Mill Lodge once again, the damage is minimal compared to last fall. No equipment was damaged. The majority of the damage is washout around the foot bridge and several large limbs and stumps scattered about. We will have to replace the utility pole near the falls again, but we will look for another routing option for that power that will allow us to relocate the pole. The clean up will consist of picking up debris. Please join us in thanking God for the protection, and if anyone would like to come help with the clean up contact us at 859/263-5239."

In yesterday's Lexington Herald-Leader, Bethel Christian Church in Buckeye, KY (northern Garrard County), was featured. Minister Dale Ballinger was shown surveying the damage left by several feet of water being inside the church.

In Nashville,
much of the city is under water, thousands of people in Tennessee have been driven from their homes, and nearly 20 people have died in some of the worst flooding in memory.

Please keep all those affected by the recent floods in your prayers.

Teen Mission will be organizing teams and individuals who would like to help in some of these areas. If you and/or your church would like to help for a day, weekend, or a week-long mission trip, please contact me right away (contact info can be found below). You may also contact our Disaster Relief Coordinator Jack Whitaker at 859/582-7061.
