The Summer Solstice has passed and now the days will get shorter as we slowly make our way through the dog days of summer and into the fall. The Summer Solstice is the height of summer and we cannot forget the great beers that were made specifically for this time of year...the longest season we have. These beers have been coming out since late April but just like the days, they are slowly shrinking off the shelves and taps of your favorite retailers. Whether it is a spicy Saison or a fruity Wit, a spiced ginger beer, or your nice light lager or ale....these beers will soon be slowly replaced by the beers of Fall. That's right...in the beer world the fall beers are going to start showing up soon. With the 4th of July just a week and a half away, now is the time to stock up on the Summer beers for parties, BBQs, picnics and all the firework watching you can handle. So make sure you grab that bomber you have been eyeing for the last couple of weeks or that 6-pack to bring to your friend's house because it won't be long before those beers will be gone just like the late sun in the evening.
Cheers,
Adam Fine

INNIS & GUNN Independence Day - Brewed to celebrate the lineage between the Scots and Americans the outcome is a light and fruity beer with notes of candied apple and marzipan. The 5 Craft Beer Personality Types
By: George Lenker
A few years ago, I wrote about the difference between beer geeks and beer snobs. This was a fairly popular column and I got quite a few e-mails concerning it. Most of them agreed with me that being a beer geek is a wonderful and positive thing for the beer world. And most also agreed that beer snobs don't do anything but ruin the party for everyone.
More recently however, I have been thinking that there are a lot more categories in the craft beer world than just those two. So today I decided to delineate the personality types even further. It might be fun for you to decide which category or categories you fall into. Not everyone will fall strictly into one or another. So without further ado I'd like to expand and expose you to what I think are the five different types of people in the craft beer world. I'm listing them from the most positive to the most annoying.

Rogue Ales to Create Beer Using Yeast from Brewmaster's Beard Follicles
By: Adam Nason
(Newport, OR) - Columbus may have discovered America but Brewmaster, John Maier, has discovered a new wild yeast that was developed from his old growth beard.
In cooperation with White Labs, samples were collected from Rogue Ales' hopyard and sent to White Labs for culture and testing. Sadly, all three samples proved incapable of producing a yeast suitable for brewing.
As a joke, nine beard follicles were carefully cut from the beard of Rogue brewmaster, John Maier. The follicles were placed in a petri dish and sent in for testing.
To the shock of the experts at White Labs, the beard samples had produced a yeast strain that was perfect for use in brewing.
Additional testing was conducted and confirmed that the yeast strain was not Rogue's yeast. White Labs' Chris White said, "we were shocked and thrilled with this remarkable discovery."

What America Spends on Booze
By: Lam Thuy Vo
Out of every $100 American consumers spend, about $1 goes to alcohol. That hasn't changed much over the past 30 years.
But where we spend our money on alcohol has changed quite a bit. We spend a bigger chunk of our booze money in bars and restaurants. We spend less money buying alcohol at the store to drink at home.
That doesn't necessarily mean we go out more often. Adjusted for inflation, the price of alcohol we buy at the store has gone down. The price of alcohol at bars has gone way up.
