84 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny today. Did we even have a winter? If we did, I think I blinked and missed it. And what happened to spring? It is already feeling like summer. I always wondered why breweries release their summer beers earlier and earlier each year. Global climate change never factored into my thoughts, but I am beginning to think they know something I don't. It is fortunate that most of the winter beers are big burly beers that can hold up to a year or more of aging. But spring beers...not so much. So if you got'em, drink'em, cause I don't think the thermometer is going to drop below 60 degress Fahrenheit until next October or November. You don't want those beers getting old. Get ready for the summer beer lineup, because they are arriving very shortly: Shipyard Summer, Shiner Ruby Red, Victory Summer Love, Magic Hat Elderberry Weiss and many many more. They are all on order and headed for Florida shortly. The dog days are upon us, and I'm not just talking about Red Brick's summer seasonal.
Cheers,
Adam Fine

JULIAN HARD CIDER
Julian Hard Cider - The Julian Hard Cider recipe originates from 1670 colonial America and is comparable to the finest British ciders. Julian Hard Cider Cherry Bomb - This cider is handcrafted with juice from the Montorency Cherry and blended with their already premium hard apple cider. It gives you the perfect balance of tart and sweet. 6.99% ABV (bottle only).

Chili beers: Some like it hot, some like it hotter By: Ed Stansel
Ghost Face Killah is the hottest beer on the market.
Literally.
Boulder-based Twisted Pine Brewing makes this hellishly hot chili beer using six varieties of pepper, including the Bhut Jolokia, or ghost pepper. It was considered the hottest pepper on the planet until it was unseated recently by the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. But nobody (so far) makes beer with the scorpion pepper, so this is as hot as you're going to get in a malt beverage.
The aroma will clear your sinuses. The first sip explodes in the back of the throat and sets the tongue ablaze before doing a slow burn down the esophagus.
Somewhere in there is a wheat beer, but you can't taste anything but the heat. We can't imagine anyone finishing a 12-ounce bottle, although people tell us it's been done.

Oskar Blues to can whiskey
By: David Young
Colorado is well known for its craft beer scene and craft distilleries are on the rise, but one Longmont brewery has decided to serve both beer and whiskey in cans.
Oskar Blues Brewery has announced plans to can its own spirits starting this summer. The Longmont-based craft brewery, known for its canned beers such as Dale's Pale Ale, will branch into distilling with canned whiskey.
The brewery is developing artwork for the cans as its federal licensing agreement is still in process for Lyons Soul Distilling LLC, said Chad Melis, Oskar Blues spokesman.

Barley used in craft beer, Aztec amaranth, and Tajikistan wheat sent to Arctic Seed Vault
By: The Global Crop Diversity Trust
LONGYEARBYEN, NORWAY (28 February 2012)-Rare wheat collected from the "Roof of the World" in the Pamir Mountains in Tajikistan; amaranth, with its exotic blood-red stalks that are used in a "Day of the Dead" drink; barley that helped spawn the craft beer revolution; and once-forgotten forage crops that could sustain livestock in these climate-stressed times are among the 24,948 seed samples arriving this week for the fourth birthday of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault (SGSV).
With the addition of this latest medley of food and forage varieties, the "Doomsday Seed Vault"-so called because it is protecting agriculture systems worldwide from disasters natural or manmade-has now secured over 740,000 samples or "accessions" deep in an Arctic mountain on Norway's remote Svalbard archipelago. The Global Crop Diversity Trust maintains the seed vault, in partnership with the Norwegian government and the Nordic Genetic Resources Center, as a back-up to the living crop diversity collections housed in "genebanks" around the world.
